I shape and craft meaningful experiences that bring the Malay language and literature to life. Just like a designer carefully curates elements to create a compelling visual, I construct learning environments, resources, and programs that inspire engagement and deeper understanding. Through workshops, language training, forums, seminars, award programs etc., I design pathways that make language learning not just educational but immersive and accessible.

I blend tradition with innovation, ensuring that while the richness of the Malay language is preserved, modern tools like quizzes, Slido, and interactive platforms create a dynamic experience. Each lesson, discussion, and activity is a carefully structured that guides learners toward mastery, appreciation, and cultural pride.

As an educator, I am a designer because every day, I’m creating more than just lesson plans but also crafting fruitful experiences that I hope will stick and last with my students long after they leave the classroom/ school. I think about each of them individually. The ones need a little more encouragement, who learns best by doing, who lights up during group work. I adjust, I experiment, I reflect from time to time because none of them are ever the same in their learning journeys.

There are moments when I see that spark that says, “I get it!” and it reminds me why I put so much thought and efforts into what I do. I'm not just teaching content per say. I'm designing a space where students feel safe, curious, and capable. It’s messy sometimes. I make mistakes, they make mistakes, but we grow together. And that, to me, is the heart of being both an educator and a designer.

As an educator, I am a designer because I craft learning experiences that actively engage students, spark curiosity, and foster deep understanding. I design lessons not just to deliver content but to create interactive, student-centered environments where learners explore, collaborate, and construct knowledge.By intentionally designing lessons with these elements shows at attachment diagram, I create a dynamic classroom where students are not just passive recipients but active participants in their learning journey. This approach increases engagement, retention, and a lifelong love for learning.

As an educator, I am a designer because not only I conduct the activities and the flow of the lesson every day, I also design the learning environment that students are in. I am the one who shapes students' learning experiences and build their interest in topics that they initially knew nothing about.

In my role as an educator, I am responsible to create a fun learning environment where students enjoy being in. I will need to design my lessons to not only deliver knowledge, but ensure students are engaged. With that, I will need to use a wide variety of pedagogical methods such as using technology, gamification, chunking and so on to ensure students absorb knowledge.

Besides, I am also responsible to account for every single student despite their differences. I have to make sure that all students receive equal chances to learn and thrive. Therefore, I will also need to design my lesson such that it is flexible and adaptive to different students' paces and needs by using differentiated instruction and conducting peer mentoring at times.

With that said, it is crucial to constantly reflect on my delivery and interaction with students. I am looking forward to design a fun, engaging and safe learning environment so that my students not only enjoy the lessons, but desire to learn as they understand the importance and application of the knowledge in real life.

As an educator, I am a designer because I build and design learning experiences that cater to my students' needs, interests, and talents. I don’t just deliver content—I design lessons, activities, and environments that actively engage learners and support their growth. Just like a designer, I consider what motivates my students, how they learn best, how it is suited with their learning styles, and how to deliver content in meaningful, interactive ways. I use various of tools and strategies, such as visuals, technology, group work, and hands-on experiences, to make learning inclusive and enjoyable. I also adapt and revise my methods based on student feedback and outcomes. In this way, I continuously refine the learning process to ensure it’s effective and inclusive. Being a designer means I have to be creative, reflective, and always looking for better ways to support my students’ learning journeys.

As an educator, I am a designer because I design my lessons, instructions, and materials that could best fit my students' diverse learning needs.

Learners come from diverse backgrounds, and I firmly believe that a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is not effective in teaching and learning. Being a designer in my classroom allows me to creatively develop learning activities while being mindful of my students' learning preferences and needs. This approach could promote inclusivity and encourages effective learning, leading to better outcomes for all learners.

Designing lesson materials and learning instructions also gives me the opportunity to understand my students more deeply while reflecting on my own skills and knowledge. I view learning as a continuous process, especially for educators. For instance, I started with limited knowledge about the role of technology in learning, but over time, I have gained a deeper understanding of various strategies, along with the theories and frameworks that support them. This has also helped me to reflect reasons why some learning materials or instructions I used previously in my lessons were effective or not effective for my students’ learning experiences.

Besides, I’m also evolving from a teacher-centred approach to a student-centred one. When lessons are designed to engage students actively, they are more likely to stay motivated, learn effectively, and continuously develop with guidance and timely feedback.

As an educator, I am a designer because I need to be aware of my students' diverse learning styles and abilities. While it is impossible for me to design learning content or tasks that can suit every student’s needs, I must reflect on and adjust my teaching content and pedagogy. Sometimes I am a facilitator, mentor or friend for students. Sometimes I use a teacher-centred approach to provide them with basic knowledge. Ultimately, the aim of the education is to equip students with lifelong-learning or self-regulated learning skills, a goal I strive to achieve.

As an educator, I am designer because I need to design various learning environments. May it to cater my learners’ needs, or to improve my teaching context. I have to make sure my learning design, is acceptable by my learners. If they can understand the context, then the learning design is working. Otherwise, I have to amend it. Purpose of teaching is to make sure learning is happening. Designing an effective learning environment is a must as an educator.

As an educator (librarian), I am a designer because I intentionally create learning experiences that are engaging, inclusive, and meaningful. I don't just deliver information; I design environments, provide resources, and integrate technologies that support different learning styles and needs. Whether through a hands-on database workshop, an interactive Padlet board, or a gamified quiz, I design with the learner in mind, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. My role as a librarian goes beyond access to knowledge; it involves crafting learning journeys that empower students to explore, connect, and grow.
