This summer I chose the book All Season Edie by Annabel Lyon. Edie is the main character throughout the book. She is an eleven-year-old girl who is convinced that her family is weird and normal. Edie used her imagination while she was gone on their summer vacation to imagine that her sister Dexter was there with her. Any time she made a comment, she would imagine what her sister’s response would be. I can relate to the main character, Edie, because she is 11 years old and she and has an annoying older sister, just like me.

I didn’t want to stop reading once I started because this book was very interesting. I could relate to a lot of what the main character was going through. Robert and Edie became friends when she was at the lake. Robert was known as fat boy. Whenever Edie would go to the lake, she knew she could always find Robert lying on the boat. This book was very funny because I laughed at least three times each chapter.

My second book for summer reading was All Season Edie. I would say this is an adventure book because it tells about the different life events Edie experiences throughout an entire year. Most of the action in the book takes place during their summer vacation and at Edie’s home. The author does a good job making me feel like I am there with Edie. The way she describes each event helps me recall when I have been in a similar situation. I feel like Edie and I have a lot in common. The main character is very believable because I could see myself in Edie. There are also a lot of things about Dexter, Edie’s 13-year-old sister, that reminds me of my own sister.

This book reminds me of two other books. The first book is my other summer reading choice, Planet Tad. In Planet Tad, Tad keeps a journal of his year in seventh grade. The other book that is similar to this one is Ramona and Beezus. They both share stories about the life of sisters. The most interesting parts of the book were the stories of how the sisters acted toward each other. It reminded me a lot of the way me and my sister act. I would recommend this book to other students if they like reading stories with sibling drama. I would give this book a thumbs up because I could relate to a lot of the events throughout the story since I also live with an older sister who likes to drive me crazy sometimes.
