Despite being a respected tycoon, his inferior nature made him never forget and be grateful for God's favor. In fact, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhari reminds us to be cautious about the blessings God has given us. "Sometimes the favors that we can be able to damage us. We have to control so that our favors do not harm us. The Al Bukhary Foundation is the place to put a surplus that can damage ourselves, "said Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhari. His established Al-Bukhary Foundation has built and manages the RM70 million Islamic Art Museum in Kuala Lumpur. To date, the al-Bukhary Foundation has spent over RM300 million on religious, cultural and educational activities. In addition, the al-Bukhary Foundation only funded poor students. Among the initiatives taken is to finance poor Muslim students from across the country to study in Malaysia. In 2000, the al-Bukhary Foundation donated a total of RM775 million to Oxford Center for Islamic Studies, a world-renowned Islamic learning center. The al-Bukhary Foundation is also assisting the Advanced Education Development Institute (MIED) in the project to establish the Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology of Asia (AIMST) in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The involvement of the al-Bukhary Foundation in non-Islamic initiatives also emerged. While al-Bukhary Foundation emphasizes on Islamic charitable projects, it continues to contribute to projects undertaken by non-Muslim organizations. For example, the al-Bukhary Foundation contributed RM1 million to the Langkawi Project, a project initiated by MCA to raise funds for rural education projects and also provide scholarships to underprivileged students.

 

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary is a person that does not know how to surrender and always learn from his mistake.  He is also a vigilant and responsible person in doing what he had to do. He always said the wealth that we get should come from responsible and the wealth that we get, no matter how small it is, should be used for something good. 

A great example is when his father’s farming business failed, he did not relinquish but being more enthusiastic to open a new business that is selling back the meats to the local buyers and restaurateurs around Alor Setar. Starting from that, he think that there is no failure in life because every failure must have method to overcome it. When facing problem, he always being taking the initiative, calm and shrewd to find the way out for his problem. He also will make sure all problems that he got can be handled smoothly and believed all problems have solution.
