She believes that she Rasheen is the best thing that ever happen to her because in the text it states that "I'll take the bus by myself. I'll do your homework' wash your clothes , lend you money , anything ... Just keep being my boo." The narrator wants to stay with Rasheen even though it's not good for her.

The theme of the passage is that when you come across bad things, you should get rid of it.
I say this becuase the narrator is very insecure and wants to seek attention. She basically allows him to get away with certain things, like taking money, slapping her, and nearly splits her ear. What she doesn't know is that Raheem is looking at another girl, until the end of the story . She's also an attention seeker because she basically wants to hold on to Raheem as long as possible. In the text, it states, "I mean, like my mother says, I won't never win no beauty contest.

The theme of Sharon Flake's "So I Ain't No Good Girl" is to be more independent. The author develops this over time by showing how dependent the narrator is in the text. On page 24 the narrator says "But him well, he's better than i deserve, i figure. I mean like my mother says, i won't never win no beauty pageant". This Evidence shows us that the narrator has a low self esteem so she became dependent on Raheem. She became so dependent to the point where she lets him control her and almost everything she dose as long as he continues to stay with her.

The theme Sharon Flake develop over the course of the text is to become more independent because the narrator is always worrying about Raheem and how he should be in school but she's always skipping class for him. In page 22 it quote, " So I remind him that he's got a test third period. if he don't pass it, he flunks the class." and also it quotes " come on Raheem. I skip English every day so me and you can ride to school together. he yells at me. " did I ask you to miss class for me ?" the quotes show that Raheem doesn't care about everything the narrator is doing for him. Another theme that Sharon Flake develops over the course of the text is if something is bad for you get rid of it because the narrator is getting abuse by Raheem and his also looking at other girls and the good girls in her school. In page 22 it quote," he hooks his thumb through my gold hoop earring and pulls down hard." Ouch! You trying to split my ear?" and also in page 24,"So when I go off on Raheem, people across the street turn and stare." you my man! What are you doing looking at her for?" Raheem's hand smashes the words back into my mouth." girl! don't make me..."

If you have low self-esteem it affects your interaction with others the same with the narrator the narrator stays with raheem to make her feel better and have more confidence because he's the cutest boy in school.

From "So I Ain't No Good Girl", it says that "Ouch! You trying to split my ear? He turns away from me and starts walking. But he don't get far... I apologize." on page 22. She acts insecure and tries to not let her go of him no matter what situation. Raheem also takes money out of her purse. She wants Raheem's attention but on page 24, he almost hit her because he wants a woman that is cooperative woman that does what he wants with no drama. She forgets and still tries to do anything for him as long he is with her.

I believe the theme of the text is that you are better off with out the negative people in your life. In the text the narrator is with a boy named Raheem who treats her bad. The narrator is insecure and just wants to keep Raheem despite the way he treats her. She doesn't even really care when he nearly splits her ear, slaps her, steals her money, and cheats on her with another girl. She instead tells herself he's a cute boy and can't be kept on a short leash. She even says she'll do anything he wants as long as he stays with her. This is the effect the negative person has in her life. This is why I believe your better off without negative people is the theme of the story. The author uses the story to shoe the effect of negative people in your life

So I Ain't No Good Girl- The main character doesn't have a name, but in the typical story, she's dating a guy who treats her badly.

He abuses her, cheats on her and she always takes him back. The summary of the story reads like a cliche, but what makes the story good is that the author tries to help unsympathetic readers (like myself) understand why a girl would stay with a guy who treats her badly. It made sense and was the right length. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that I didn't particularly care that it ended where it did.

The narrator has low self-esteem and can't think for herself because she is allowing Raheem to do everything for her, including making decisions. In the text, it states, "You my man! What you doing looking at her? Raheem's hand smashes the words back into my mouth. Girl! Don't make me...". This piece of evidence shows that the narrator is very insecure, has low self-esteem, and allows Raheem to control how she feels about him. The narrator is also trying to hold on to Raheem as long as she can, but Raheem is interested in the redhead girl, and the narrator doesn't see that until the end of the story. She needs to be able to control herself and her thoughts, and not let someone else control her.
