The scene is a turning point in the story, it's actually where the story begins. The intensity of the cable snapping and Eddie trying to fix it right before he dies says a lot about him. He has always cared about other people and their safety. What happened at the end of Eddie's life says a lot about him as a person, he has always cared for the people and Ruby Pier. It's ironic that the Cart is in a death drop because Eddie is about to die himself.

Eddie's Inner Child

This sense represents childhood. Eddie was forced to grow up very quickly due to the war. Once Eddie got home from the war he could no longer run freely, he was in to much pain. Once Eddie got to hevan his pain went away. He didn't need a cane and his points didn't hurt anymore. Eddie puts his arms out like a glider and starts running. Although Eddie's life just ended, He can run freely in Hevan.

The Blue Man's Loneliness

When Eddie was little he only has the blue man as a carnival attrecation, like he was an object. The blue man was seen as a object by many people who are similar to Eddie. Once the blue man was gone people started to care about him. Eddie indirectly caused the blue mans death which gave them a connection, even if Eddie didn't know it yet. When the blue man touches Eddie, He understands the blue mans emotions.Eddie understands what its like to be an outcast, lonely, ashamed, and the heart attack that ended the blue mans life. Eddie finally knows how the carnival attraction really felt.

Eddie's Father Figure

It's common for kids to see their fathers as someone to look up to and aspire to be like, not for Eddie. Eddie's dad was a very angry man. At the blue mans funeral when Eddie is complaining about his shoe's the dad screams at him. Eddie is silent afterwards because he is scared of his dad. Even though his mother disciplines him in a kindly manner, the fathers angry is what gets Eddie is listen while in fear. Eddie remembers his dad as the enemy, not someone to look up to.

Shocking News

Ever since Eddie came home from the war he hasn't been able to run or dance due to a leg injury. Eddie hasn't been the same since the injury. Eddie has always looked up to the captian of his war group for guidance. When Eddie gets to Hevan and find out the captain is the one who caused his leg injury he feels betrayed. It doesn't make any sense to him.

The Second Lesson

Eddie has always wondered why he survived the war while others didn't. So many other soilders have been in Eddie's position but Eddie still survived. The Captain of Eddies war group cared about Eddie and the other soilders. The Captain didn't leave Eddie alone, half-naked in the middle of the woods. The Caption made sure Eddie got a chance to live his life to the fullest. The Captaion not only died for his country but, died for his friends.

The Capation is a wise and caring man. He has seen a lot of trama during his time in the military which has effected his attitude and perspective on life. Onto of being in the military for so long his smoking addiction has effected his appearnce. The smoke has made his teeth yellow and his condition weaker. Dispite everything the caption has been through he always rembers to never leave anyone behind. His morals remain the same through the time and trama the Capation endures.

Since Eddie's war group has drifted away from the other groups they were stuck in a tough situation. The Capation is suppose to the guidance the group needs. The Capation needs guidance himself sinces he's unsure of what to do. War involves quick descion making. Most quick descions are very uncertain.

The Ruby Pier from Eddie's childhood is very different then the one standing at the time of his death. The original Ruby Pier had a picture of Ruby above the entry way and was very fancy. There were many materials imported from Europe until, the pier burned down. It burned down on Independence Day due to workers staying overnight and smoking. One building caught on fire causing a domino effect. Ruby's husband and the Pier lost a tremendous amount of money that day. Shortly after the pier was rebuilt to the one Eddie is familiar with today.

How Ruby Feels About the Pier

After the fire Ruby was ashamed that the pier was named after her. She felt that the pier was a berdon to her name and didn't want to be reminded of it. Her children and grandchild went their but not her. Ruby's perfect heaven is far away from the ocean because the pier was on the ocean. Ruby wanted to go back to simpler times, before the pier was buildt. Ruby's perfect heaven is at the diner, when she met her husband and the Pier wasn't around.

Eddie Forgives His Dad

Eddie has held a grudge against his dad his whole life. From the emotional abuse to not supporting his dreams Eddie hated his father. After Eddie learns that he must forgive his father he poor's his heart out. Eddie is screaming for his dad while apologising. Eddie explains the he knows what happen and now understandes his father. Eddie lets go of the grudge aganist his father. The father isn't their to hear Eddie's apology but, Eddie still forgave him.

The Thrid Lessom

Eddie was resented his father his whole life. He saw his father as an angry man with no disreguard for others. When Eddie finds out that his father was yelling for him while he was dying Eddie was shocked. Eddie and his dad didn't speak for years up until the day he died. Eddie's dad has always cared about him and just wanted the best for his son. Eddie's dad was pushed him to be the best and get his act together. Ruby explains to Eddie that he has to forgive his father. Hating someone doesn't help in any situation. Understanding the other person's feelings and forgiving one another is important.

Lost Time

Eddie hasn't seen Marguerite since she was 47 years old. Now Eddie is seeing her again while he is a old man who can barley walk. Eddie was star struck by seeing Marguerite since so much has happened since her death. Eddie has missed her for so long and she's finally Infront of him.

When Eddie Met Marguerite he was telling everyone she was the one he was going to marry. Eddie ended up Marrying her and stayed with her. Up until Marguerite's death Eddie was by her side. After she died Eddie didn't want anyone else. He never even searched for a new wife, he only wanted Marguerite. He lived half his life widowed. Even Marguerite knew that Eddie still loved her after her death. Their connection was still strong despite being separated by heaven and earth.

Eddie has seen a lot during his time in the war. The one war momery that Eddie still thinks about is the figure in the burning barn. Eddie thinks he saw a little girl but he wasn't sure. When Eddie got to his fifth person in heaven he was confused about why he was surrounded by children. A little girl named Tala came up to Eddie. She told him that he burned her. When Eddie realized that Tala was the figure in the barn fire he started sobbing. Eddie couldn't believe that he couldn't save this little girl. She had a whole life ahead of her, she couldn't live that life due to Eddie's mistake.

Since Eddie has started working at Ruby Pier he has hated it. Eddie always wanted to escape the pier and do something more with his life. He has always loved children and wanted his own. He enjoyed seeing kids at work although he wanted to leave. Eddie has been Keeping kids safe everyday. He always felt the blame for not saving the girl in the fire during the war without noticing how many children he has saved since. His work as a maintenance man has saved so many children. Eddie's purpose in life was to keep children safe.
