Text to Self: I can relate to Steve on the fact that when things get difficult in life and I’m not able to wrap my head around what’s going on, I find ways to block out what’s happening (hang out with different people then usual, play games, etc.).

Text to Text: Steve is in the same kind of situation as Callum Hunt in "The Silver Mask" which is the fourth book in that series. He’s in a prison because of something he didn’t have any control over. His teachers and his classmates don’t visit him, since they don’t completely believe in his innocence. Even his dad is staying away, he’s scared.

Text to World: It’s true everywhere in the world that people judge before knowing the other person’s side of the story. It doesn’t even need to be during an extremely important situation, there are people who make an opinion about somebody the second they meet.

Sixteen year old black Steve Harmon is on trial for the murder of Alguinaldo Nesbitt, who’s drugstore was robbed at the same time as his death. Steve’s attorney is Katie O’Brien who doesn’t completely believe in Steve’s innocence. When Steve’s father visits him, we understand that his dad also isn’t convinced that he’s not guilty. To block out what’s happening, Steve is writing all the events that are going on as a movie script. Up to now, we’ve read the testimonies of José Delgado, Salvatore Zinzi, Wendell Bolden and Osvaldo Cruz. Nothing yet has proved that Harmon isn’t guilty, therefor the trial isn’t going well for him. Half of the jury is already convinced that Steve is guilty. O’Brien says that winning would be not getting a death penalty.
