He was raised in Hiroshima up to 15 years old. And then he came to Tokyo for school. His twin brother and he came to a high school here affiliated with Keio University. “It was very prestigious and our parents wanted us to go there.” He says.
He graduated from Keio University in 1964. “At that time, $1 was 360 yen. We were not allowed to take more than $500 outside of the country. So I had to get a full scholarship — a university fellowship or something. I needed American colleges to support me financially because we couldn't bring our dollars to the United States.
