The Mysterious Benedict Society

Page 57

In my book I read that Reynie had to figure out which way he had to go so that he could get out of a maze. He found four different colored arrows that pointed in to four different direction. A blue arrow was pointed right, a green arrow was point left, a wiggly arrow was point straight ahead, and a purple arrow was point backwards. Reynie figure out that that the wiggly arrow was the correct arrow because if someone was blind then the person wouldn't see any of the arrows expect the wiggly arrow. This made me think if I was in this situation I would just guest a random direction and stick with that arrow. This reminded me of the breakout boxes because the boxes were made to make you think which is very similar in the situation that the characters in my book are in.

This surprised me because the pencil Lady took very extreme measure to make sure that no one knew how to get back to the end of the maze. I don't think I would have been able to remember all the steps.

Many children have taken the test and some children have passed. This made me wonder what is the urgent project and why so difficult foe children to form a team. It made think about the teams I have been on. What made some teams and what made team not work so well together. I think teams work well together when each person puts the team above their own selves.

Interestingly, all three children in the story are orphans and one of them is a runaway. This made me wonder what would it be like to be alone in the world. This made me realize that I was very lucky because I have a family who cares about me and takes care of me.

The Mysterious Benedict Society

Page 81

Soon after page 80, I learned why Mr Benedict fell while laughing hysterically at a joke. He has a disease called narcolepsy. I have never heard narcolepsy before and I had to look it up to figure out what it meant. When I searched the word on the internet, I discovered that narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that cause extreme sleepiness when the person experiences strong emotions. I can't ever imagine what it would be like to have narcolepsy. I would hate to fall asleep every time I was really happy or sad.
