In modern times we had more access to information, but we need to be cautios about what kind of knowledge we are looking for, also we need to ensure that the knowledge we get from traditions and from elder people is correct, because our society values are in constant changes, so what used to be correct maybe is wrong in our times.

Because of that, we need to seek the wisdom from the elder, they know a lot of things and we can learn one thing or two, like how to cook, how to drive, how to dance, a lot of things, but make yourself sure that you compare that knowledge with your own values to make sure that you analyze and comprenhended what you are learning.

Also, we need to stop looking for nursing homes for our elders, they are great, but is more great to be with them and to spare time with them, so instead of having nursing homes as a first option, make sure that it is the last option, all of us need to take care of our elders and only when they need a special cares choose those nursing homes.

So, we can learn one thing or two from our elders, that knowledge is very valuable, but we need to filter that knowledge and learning what is truly important while we are taking care of them.

Aspect to learn about elder people:

They feel alone, so be a nice company for them
They are quiet and paceful.
They analize facts and evidence to build their point of view
They give advice freely
They are story teller and each of it has many relevant aspect to learn
They are so emotional and touchable and it is important to conect with others
They take care about everything and feel sorry for the any form of life
They speak slow and choose appropiate the words.
They are natural caretakers even if we think the opposite.

We must learn and be conscious about our elders generation. Be capable of respecting and take advantage of their knowledge and also respecting them as well.

I think that if we do that, and learn from the older generation’s mistakes, we are going to be able for doing better in the future in practically all aspects.

Santi said that a possible barrier was related with some young people who did not care elder people and did not accept the knowledge from them because they were old.

A: Emily said that she once introduced a friend to her mom, and right after the friend left the house, her mom told her that she didn’t like her and that Emily should stay away from her. At that time, Emily didn’t pay attention to her mom, but a month later, she realized that the “friend” was very hypocritical towards her.

Valen said that every Christmas, their grandparents would gather all the cousins in a room where they would tell them scary stories, some they had witnessed and others they had made up.
