A large ship doesn't just turn on time. If it tries, it will tip over. A large ship needs time. Give Common Core time.

"We don't teach to the test. We need to teach to the standards."
-We are focusing on the process now, not the end result.
-The test doesn't even give results based on specific standards anymore. It is based on the process (claims).

Our students are not just learning in a new way, but they are learning a new format of showing work.

What about ELLs and SPED?
"We need to be careful not to confuse academic ability with intellectual ability."

"There is not an achievement gap. There is an attitude gap."
-Students are not just learners. There is more to them than that.

Never praise a student for the end result/answer. "You are so smart."
Always praise specifically for the process and effort. "It looks like you worked really hard on that."

Develop the power of yet and grit.
