On March 24, 2001, Keith’s father was killed in a car accident. That event and the September 11, 2001 attacks prompted Keith to write the song "Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue, a song about his father’s patriotism and faith in the USA. It took him 20 minutes to write the song. Keith declares that the song was written with reference to the war in Afghanistan.

The song is a stellar example of not only the struggles faced while obtaining the American Dream, but also the pride so many of us feel towards our country. When you break down the lyrics you hear Keith's passion for America and it's troops. When the song says "when we see Old Glory flying there's a lot of men dead so we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head." The song grasps the meaning in pride, and the struggle that takes place for many families while defending our country.

It represents freedom because our American troops risk their lives fighting for our country. "Not stopping till the job is done". Another reason why this deals with the American dream is because of what the American troops did for us-they showed how we stood tall, which gave us hope. e will also keep fighting for what we believe in.
