Add vanilla extract by beating.</li><li>Mix the salt, baking soda, and flour in a separate basin. Slowly add the milk and the flour mixture to the butter mixture while running the mixer at a low speed. Start and end with the flour mixture. Just merge after beating.</li><li>Fill the prepared pans with the batter, and then use a spatula to smooth the tops.
