She came from high class family with her mother being a opera singer and her father a actor. Thunberg poses a rare medical disorder being diagnosed at 11 with Asperger's syndrome, it's a form of autism in which it affects the way one socializes and communicates. From a young age she was intrigued by global warming and why nothing was being done about it. While she still in elementary she would spend large amounts of time studying climate change.

She has also earned herself a spot on Time Person of the Year 2019 and Forbes list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women of 2019. Learning about the ongoing issue at just 8 years old, she wasted no time in changing her own habits by going vegan and refusing to travel by air. Seeking to make a change in the world, Thunberg took action in 2018 at just 15 years old when she very bravely held a saying "Skolstrejk för klimatet" (School strike for climate) outside the Swedish Parliament. Following the protest, she gained international attention fairly quickly prompting her to start a worldwide movement.
