There is a protective blue plastic that covers the hands from coming into contact with the blade. Also, the spikes that are in the middle of the scissors are clearly protected by more plastic, that stops part of your hand from being injured in that area. Not to forget, the grip is designed to be the most comfortable position, thus providing a safe area to hold the scissors and avoid injury from the teeth or the blade. The hinges of the scissors are fairly strong, thus making the scissors durable and stopping them from falling apart, when the blades might injure the consumer. In between the two handles, there is a slight knob which stops the handles from closing fully, this provides more control for the scissors, as well as stopping the scissors from crushing the user's fingers.The changes in color and material provides contrast with the relative safety of the plastic, unlike the sharp metallic edge which is drawn attention to by that sharp contrast.
