Today our topics were listening and instructions. We worked on planning listening in 3 stages, how to diffirentiation activities when we need, why should we use not only coursebooks but also authentic materials and importance of giving well organized insturctions.

It was prodctive day for me because again I learned many new activities that I can use during my lessons in listening part. Also I realize the importance instructions. The point is keep it short ,simple and staged. and if you have a chance demonstrate it. From now on I will pay attention to give more clear instructions.

Are you an active listener ? was my favourite today. Because it can be adaptable in all levells and different topics. High school students like listening Music so I am certainly sure that they Will like it.

In my classroom I use both coursebooks because we have a curricilium and my students have an exam according to it but I know the importance of using authentic materials. These type of activities are more meaningful for student because they are from their real life. To sum up, I use a combination.

Todays activities for active listening can be and should be adapted to real classroom activities :)

LESS IS MORE is today's motto for me :) I like it and and hope that I can apply it to my teaching process while giving instructions because I noticed that I usually use long sentences and sometimes forget to check. Also I learned that demonstrate it if you can, not all instructions should be verbal.

Speaking is the biggest challenge for my students so activities that we've learned (paperslide, jigsaw, describe and demonstrate, flip ) and ways to maximise speaking them during lessons will be very useful for me. Because I have many problems in speaking activities with my students like using Turkish, class population, lack of motivation, fear of making mistakes, lack of confidence, insufficient exposure to authentic materials and target language. ( I can't choose the most important because for me they are all important )I think I can use the ideas from today to handle with these chalenges not problems :).For example one of them is jigsaw I will use it in group actvities. It is time saving, combination of listening and speaking skilss that is why I wil use it. Also I think paperslides will work well. I want to Show them that they are not dependent on technology for produce a creative work.

''Enough confidence to fail'' was the most impressive takeway for me today. I will put it into practice during my lessons, using pair and group chechking, because I noticed that as I feedback I use only meyself and board maybe,so this was a mistake. I tried not to directly say that student is incorrect but even so I missed the point about feelings of my students.

Also I have some deductions for reading lessons. First of all I realized that I should prepare a plan with activities including subskilss for them beforehand, using more engaging texts not only use what we have in our cousebooks because in this way learning will be more effective for all tlevels of learners. I got this thought when we as a group adopt reading activity from our coursebook taking notice to the steps. By doing this, tasks became more meaningful and enjoyable. I like what we did so I will use it when I back with my 11th grades. Espicially I like using jigsaw as a while reading activity because all of us become bored when we only read, yet in that way they will only read a short part of it and then put them together,so it will be easier but effective. I think my collegues will find it benefical, too. Therefore,I will use it in my Pdc meeting,I will want them to choose, improve and defferentiate the activites that we can use during the month,so it we be useful for all of us and I think they will be motivated doing something that they will do.

I will keep in mind activity circle to make my lessons more student centered because before I came here I used to be a speaker in Class but now I will organize them, monitor the process, listen and then give Feedback.

Vocabulary teaching is one of the most difficult parts of teaching for me,may be the reason of this is not giving vocabulary in context. That's way I am very excited to use today's acitivity '' Dolmuş Game''. I will apply it both in my school to all grades because it requires only writing a word related to topic even weeker students can feel successful, especially If I sit them at the begining part. It worths to be shared in my PDC meetings because it give motivation students to participate in a vocabulary activity.

Tips that I got today for teaching vocabulary are using mimes, not ignoring intonation, using different moods, using drills and make reperitions as a group. As well making use of ccq questions, I’ve not used them.

I think the most effective grammar teaching suggestion today is '' I've never ...'' I like it,so much and I'm sure it will work with my students. I will use it with different grammar structures may be not in the classroom itself but in the corridors near. The reason making it sensible to use it is that it builds confidence for students.

The biggest problem in assesment in my local area is that in general it is seems that it criteria based, but actually it isn’t. We’ re supposed to assess all 4 skilss in our exam so it so time consuming for us, that is why for nearly 4 lessons we only focus on assesment not teaching. The other problem is that er haven’t got detailed rubrics. Also we have only a frame so it makes our assesments subjective. We dont have enough time to use formative one, mainly we get idea about students from summative ones, but in fact we should use them both.

Self assesment or peer assesment can be a solution for us as a formative ones. Because I can apply it shortly at the end of unit or topic. So it will easily works when we will get quick feedback.
