OUR QUESTIONS:

Have you used QR codes with your students? If yes, what did you do? What skills did the students develop? How did your students respond to it? Would you recommend using QR codes in the classroom? What are the advantages of using QR codes in the classroom If you don't want to use QR codes, give your reasons.

YOUR ANSWERS:

Cristina NicolaitaI've used QR codes in an eTwinning project, Our ideal European Neighbour. They have to describe themselves using personality adjectives, I print out the codes, mix them up and we open them on my tablet, their job is to try to guess which qr code belongs to a particular person in the class. They like it because it makes learning more fun, they use English while when we are doing it orally they use their mother tongue when they do not know the word. I think that it raises their self esteem because I sometimes pretend that I am not skilled at something and then they show me how to do it. QR codes can be used for all types of activities, but I usually use them for warmers or practice activities.February 19 at 7:44am · Unlike · 1

Nida TürkelayThis was my first time to use Qr codes. In my school with have a tablet classroom and as I want to innovate in my teaching, I have decided to use everything I learned so far and everything I learn in this LE... our school is a private one, and parents are paying, so that their children get a better and inspiring education... Many skills can be developed with the use of new technologies in the classroom... I could use QR codes for a start in a thesaurus hunting, so that I can help my students find out how it works... then I would establish every month a task that would include a QR code, that my students could produce by themselves in an exercise and bring it in the classroom and challenge not only themselves, but their co-mates, too... I think while using it, I will find innovating resolutions of its use...February 20 at 2:35pm · Like · 1

Francisco Prendes VeigaI've never used them with students but we are about to use them in a special "Book's Day Event" on my school.
AUGUSTO'S DISCUSSION 2: Augmented reality in education - yes or no?

OUR QUESTIONS:

Augmented reality has been used in different walks of life since 1962. What are the benefits and drawbacks of using it in education? Should we teach students how to use it? How likely is it that AR is just a fad that will soon disappear? Or is it here to stay and completely change our view of reality?

YOUR ANSWERS:

Cornelia MelcuAugumented reality is a part of our life. In the classes, when it is used it respons to the student's neds: using technology and devices, exploring, simulating, giving solutions that could be considered dreams some time ago. I strongly agree we should adapt our way of teaching to our postmodern students but keeping the balance too: technology and outdoor education. This is a real challenge, isn't it?February 19 at 11:16pm · Unlike · 10

Maja Labaš HorvatMy opinion is that AR is a thing of the future but I again stress the importance of balance between thebuse of technology in classroom and its pedagogical use.I must admit that I like to use it,as well as my students, but not every day and not for every class.I use it mostly to motivate the students when the task is challenging and it makes them more drawn in the subject.February 20 at 1:25am · Unlike · 6

Cándida CalderónI think AR will gradually change our lives and thus also our teaching. Our students grow up with ipads and iphones and know how to use them - much better than us! It´s important teachers know how to use ICT, also because we have to teach students to use them wisely. I haven´t used AR in class yet, it´s great to motivate students whan a task is difficult but not every day and not in every subject. So I agree with Maja.February 20 at 2:24am · Edited · Unlike · 10

Vesile Derya ÇakırAccording to the 'Future Classroom Scenarios' there won't be any borders in classes. I haven't used AR in teaching before either, but am looking forward to using it with sts in a field trip next week. It will add extra motivation even in school exhibitions and is definitely not only useful but great to enhance our teaching. I can't tell if it's here to stay; perhaps like so many other technologies, gadgets, apps... AR has its primetime to be replaced by other emergent ones. In 1962 I wasn't even born, and had no idea AR was that old LOL. Who knows if other ones are already on its way? Also AR has lots of potential to be used in educational games and for supporting lab experiments.
I think that the major advantages of AR are learning gains (improving learning performance) and students motivation.
One AR limitation is related to the difficulties of maintaining the superimposed information: students may feel frustrated if the application does not work properly or if it is difficult for them to use the markers or the device in order to see the augmented information.

OUR QUESTIONS:

On January 15, 2015, Google announced that it would stop producing the Google Glass prototype but remained committed to the development of the product. Do you think they should work on improving it or abandon it totally? What is your opinion of Google Glass? Would you like to have it (or a similar product) and use it in your everyday life? Or in the classroom with your students? What benefits could it bring to education? What are its drawbacks? Is it too powerful and fear-inducing?

YOUR ANSWERS:

Pilar CuelloI think investigations and improvements to this device should continue. Sky is really the limit!! Right now, to be honest, I don't know how could they be used for teaching, but they might be valuable. It was amazing. It goes beyond my imagination. I find it is very innovative. You wear it and it can take a video or a photo, it can give you so much information about the real world you are living in. It can be a life companion. Though, I see some disadvantages in using it. Personally speaking, I wouldn't use it and I'd choose an alternative divice. I have a feeling that it would disturb me from my communication in the real world. It might also be dangerous when driving or walking in the road. I think Google won't abandon it but she will improve it. I wouldn't like a device that it would be attached on me.

OUR QUESTIONS:

After these three days of creating AR content what are your experiences? How challenging was it to make AR content? Was it time-consuming? Creative? Different? Is it worth it?

YOUR ANSWERS:

Eleftheria PachiadakiIt was very inspiring. I learned a lot new tools about AR that I want to use in my class because I think it will motivate my students to participate and at the same time it makes the lesson more vivid. Moreover, I think it needs a lot of time to be familiarised with these tools.15 hrs · Unlike · 6

Maria-Genoveva AgapeSince starting this event eTwinning I'm like a child. I spend all my free time in front of the computer, because everything is new to me. I read all the resources available and I tried some of the tools (QR code, QR Voice, school, Onvert, so). It will be a challenge for me in the future to get familiar with all the tools presented and to integrate them into my lessons. Arjana Blazic and Bart Verswijveln thanks for share this great resource to me.14 hrs · Unlike · 3

Cornelia MelcuThanks for the great collection As majority of us decided AR was a part of education, I admit it is a great challenge too. Thanks for all.11 hrs · Unlike · 3

Arzu-Mustafa ÇakirI agree with you Alessandro Ruffino. tiring but happy ending10 hrs · Like

Liliana la MarcaI find everyithing interesting but unfortunately I'm not so experienced in technology, so I have a lot of difficulties9 hrs · Like

Úlfhildur Helga GuðbjartsdóttirI think it is a bit time consuming but I think/hope it is so just to start with.
