Through improving access to antiretroviral to people in lower income countries that have a high prevalence of HIV, then treatment delays HIV onset and allows people to stay in better health and wellbeing for longer. Diagnose people are more likely to have better mental health and wellbeing as they will have less worry and concern about rapidly deteriorating health and mortality that is associated with the condition worsening. If people diagnosed with HIV are well enough to work and participate in the community, this will help to reduce poverty in line with SDG 1: no poverty. People who are gainfully employed are likely to be earning a reasonable income and therefore less likely to be living in relative or extreme poverty
