1. Ralph, Ralph is the protagonist. He is very charismatic and is a leader by nature that is why we are met with him first. Immediately he is energetic and kind, he acts like a kid. Physically he is athletic and has very fine hair.
Piggy, Piggy is very different from Ralph. He is almost a foil of him. Piggy is smart uses his head and is kind of an anxious person. Physically he is also different from Ralph. Piggy is fat wears glasses and is picked on by most of the group.
Jack, Jack is a very angry and aggressive person. He wants anarchy while the others want peace and a group. He is kind of a bully and is mean to the other kids. Physically he is tall thin and red hair.
2. There are many instances of foreshadowing in this chapter. A few cases of this is, Jack being so aggressive and mean with the others as well as piggy's physical conditions, asthma. Another is the conch shell and how important it will be later on when they need to be civilized.
5. I think that the sound of the conch is a symbol of peace and civilization. It is used to call meetings and bring the people together. It keeps order and holds the kids together. It is basically what they use to keep them from becoming savages and losing order with the others and themselves.

2. Jack in this chapter is very aggressive and has almost no remorse for killing an animal like a pig. He does not feel anything from it and instead likes it. This reveals/foreshadows that he will lose his feelings as a person and become more of a beast or a savage.
3. I believe piggy's glasses represent a form of civilization and survival. They are used normally to help people and even in this case they are used to help light the fire. They reflect piggy's resourcefulness and how he is always there to help and give logical thinking.
4. They pick on piggy because he is unhealthy or slow and fat. He wears glasses and is easy for them to pick on. However they respect Jack and Ralph and treat them with kindness. This reflects the human nature of respect the ones stronger then you and taking advantage of those weaker.
6. The first two chapters reveal the main concept of the book. A "good" or civilized and respecting team that wants to take them off the island and keep their human traits. Then their is the other side. The "bad" side that wants to be savages and survive anyway they can. They don't care about going back or staying "human" they will kill and do anything to survive even getting rid of their moral compass.
