According to Fyodor Dostoevsky, “To go wrong in one's own way is better than to go right in someone else's.” The quote means that it's better to do something wrong for you than to do something that others think is right to do.

This quote is accurate because if you do something that someone else believes is right, you're gonna want to do the things that everybody but yourself approves of. Like illegal drugs. Everyone that you know goes to a party and takes illegal drugs. You don't want to take the drugs in a party but peer pressure overwhelms you and you eventually take the drug because everyone else has done it and is currently staring at you. You weren't even sure if you wanted to take the drug yourself but you did it anyway because you wanted to fit in and make everyone happy.

According to Criss Jami, "Everyone has their own ways of expression. I believe we all have a lot to say, but finding ways to say it is more than half the battle." This quote means everyone has their own response to certain things. The problem is making it verbal.

This is accurate because when the thought is in Person A's head, the thinker knows exactly every aspect of it, personally understanding it. Person B doesn't know what the person is thinking and when verbally said, the other person doesn't understand the whole thing. So Person A tries to simplify their response so Person B can better understand what Person A is trying to say.

According to Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the shore, "I feel an omen calling out to me, like a dark, omnipresent pool of water." This quote uses a metaphor to express the central idea that a person is in a dark place, with someone or something bad calling out to them, like an echo in a dark cave. The metaphor expresses how there's an omen representing an evil shadow over them and being in water that seems ever-lasting and deep, like an ocean, that they can't escape from. The fear of being trapped in your own nightmare. The conclusion of this metaphor is to express being mentally trapped with your darkest fears calling out to you.

According to William Shakespeare, "but love is blind, and lovers cannot see" meaning that the lover is easily convinced of what they want to see instead of observing the behavior of who they love. Letting your feelings override your thoughts and choosing to oversee whats wrong or not confronting the problem.

This quote is accurate because a lot of people (cuckolds to be specific) always want to make their significant other be with them forever, either spending their whole bank on them to make them happy or giving his significant other the option to have multiple partners outside of the relationship. Boys with cuckold behavior will accept these in relationships because they are simply simps. They would let their significant other do anything because the boy is blindly in love instead of listening to their feelings, basically putting their feelings on a chain in order to make one happy. Please excuse me for going down this road, but things like these are in need of explanation

In the excerpts from Kafka on the Shore, by Haruki Murakami, the central idea of living forever in your own library is explored. These ideas are supported through the author’s use of language choices. Language choices are important in work of literature because they give the reader an emotional feeling or image of a scenario that’s being made and expressed by the author.

“Lost opportunities, lost possibilities, feelings we can never get back. That's part of what it means to be alive. But inside our heads - at least that's where I imagine it - there's a little room where we store those memories. A room like the stacks in this library. And to understand the workings of our own heart we have to keep on making new reference cards. We have to dust things off every once in awhile, let in fresh air, change the water in the flower vases. In other words, you'll live forever in your own private library.”

According to Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore, “Lost opportunities, lost possibilities, feelings we can never get back. Both metaphors in these quotes are also associated with the mentality of one’s thinking. One quote expresses being trapped in a dark place, mentally, with something terrible calling out to you, your dark side telling you to embrace the darkness. The other one is expressing memories being kept alive to remember a specific experience. Setting a reminder of what has happened.

Overall, these two passages from Kafka on the Shore, by Haruki Murakami, use language choices to express the idea surrounding the passage. These central ideas have experiences being recalled.

According to Dorothy Gambrell, "If television's a babysitter, the Internet is a drunk librarian who won't shut up" means TV is something a toddler would sit down, quietly sitting on the floor, paying attention. While the internet is so informational that it seems endless on information, even telling you things you shouldn't know with your age.

This is accurate because, personally, the internet is quite addicting when you can receive so much information by just asking one question. That question leads to the next, and a couple of hours later, I'm still mentally listening to what the internet has to tell me.

According to Barbara Kingsolver, "Like kids who only ever get socks for Christmas, but still believe with all their hearts in Santa" means that even though the kids didn't get what they wanted, they still believe that Santa will eventually give them a better gift.

This quote is accurate because even though someone has been disappointed many times, they still have hope and believe that things will be better next time.

According to Bodie Thoene "Anger is the wind which blows out the lamp of the mind" means your anger can either cloud your thinking or completely shut your thinking down.

This is accurate because when your rage takes over, it's like your brain doesn't exist, only your anger, just acting irrationally and uncontrollably to the point where it feels like your thinking doesn't exist like a wind just blew out all the lights in your head.

According to Thomas S. Monson, "Your mind is a cupboard and you stock the shelves" means you're responsible for how you think and feel.

This quote is accurate because you can choose to either stock your mind with positive thoughts and feelings or negative ones.
