The smartphone stethoscope is a combination of a downloadable app and a wearable device named "Spot" by Steth IO. The Spot is a small round structure that connects to androids and/or iPhones via cord (similar to phone charging cable). When the Spot is placed on the chest, heart and lung sounds as well as vital signs can be heard by the healthcare professional in real-time. Options to record and upload directly into the patient's record are also available.

The Spot by Steth IO does create a bridge from patient to healthcare professional in a virtual appointment setting. A wearable device is an asset especially during these unprecedented times (e.g. stay-at-home mandates, infection control precautions, & extreme weather conditions). The disadvantages to the use of the Spot are significant and require further exploration. However, the technology offered via Steth IO's Spot is the type of advancement that healthcare should be moving toward. Promoting the use of Spot specifically to high-risk patients would be an acceptable starting point for healthcare companies. Through this intervention, the cons could be decreased due to the limited patient load utilizing the Spot. Moreover, the outcomes for a high-risk patient population would improve with consistent monitoring; for this population the benefits or potential benefits greatly out-weigh the risk/cons involved.

Diverse team members were selected; they all have differing characteristics from each other and me.
Carter - Communication: I picture this team member as the glue to hold the group together. Communication is essential for progress within any group.
Daniel - Discipline: this team member would be ideal for the planning outline and identifying each step needed (i.e. the process designer).
Fernando - Focus: I would choose this person to be the point position of our group; the ability to prioritize first then act is key in a team so that everyone knows the plan.
Isabelle - Includer: this team member would be beneficial to ensure participation and equal work distribution for all persons in the group.
William - Woo: a group would do well to have an out-going member who doesn't mind breaking the ice, especially for initiation of group activity.
My Strengths: Strategic, Learner, Input, Individualization, Intellection. My primary strength is the ability to approach challenges from alternative points and rationalize how each team member can best contribute to improve group outcomes.
