The Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa began in 1976 in what is now south Sudan. The disease traveled quickly because of the terrible standards in Africa, such as the growing amount pf poverty, dysfunctional healthcare systems. suspicion of their government due to past years of armed conflict, and the setback of responding after many months. Controlling the outbreak was difficult as to what they needed. Access to labs, knowledge of who has the virus, and care for those who are effected are just some things they needed to restrict the virus and was expensive and required the people of those areas to cooperate. Even today, no treatment is found proven to cure Ebola, however the rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine was found 70% to 100% effective in preventing Ebola.
