I was born in Minneapolis, moved to Chicago, moved to Monticello, and then moved to Blaine when I was 10 years old. I am the daughter of Mexican immigrants and live with my mom, my stepfather, and my little brother. My parents have not graduated high school and can speak little English. I’ve been working with my mom as a janitor ever since I was very little. My best friend is Jocelyn. I am a first generation student and hope to get into the University of Minnesota

My Summer

I was grounded this summer so it wasn’t very fun. I stayed at my brother’s apartment and I kept it clean. I focused on practicing face painting and learning discipline. I wasn’t allowed to go out, but I was able to go to the state fair with my brother. I hope to get better grades this year so I can have a better summer.

Hi! My name is Stephanie Fuentes and I’m 16 years old and will turn 17 in May. I own a small face painting business that I’m very proud of. My mom is the one that pushed me to start it and has supported me a lot. I think this reflects me because I really like to paint and make people smile. It’s a big part of my life as I do this every weekend.

Strengths and interests

I am interested in art, track and field, and childcare. I’ve been doing art since I was little and I really enjoy it. I hope to go back into track this year or the next because I really like running long distances. I also really like taking care of kids and I think I’m pretty good at it. I volunteer to take care of kids at my church and face painting is all about making sure they’re happy.

Going well

I think my face painting has been going well! I recently bought a space for Mexican Independence Day MPLS 2024 and was invited to paint sugar skulls with other painters for a festival in October! I have 3 large events for this year and I’m booked for every weekend for September. I started 3 years ago and this year has been going very well. I hope next summer I’ll be able to paint more during weekdays.
