I will definitely use the reverse outline strategy because it requires students to really reflect on their writing and to keep in mind the elements they should be including as they are writing. I think this would pair nicely with the peer revision reflection as well.

At least two of my biggest, most frustrating areas of "struggle' in helping students engage in revision were soothed today! The chart making students read and interpret comments on their essays will make SO MUCH DIFFERENCE in using feedback more effectively. The Sentence Starters from They Say, I Say is a brilliant way to put that whole book onto one, useable sheet.!!! Thank you. This session was invaluable (even for a very veteran teacher). :-)

I think all of the resources shared will help my 8th grade ELA students learn how to revise more effectively and understand that writing is indeed a process! I plan to use the sentence starters template and the three-column interact with teacher feedback resources for sure!!

I especially liked the Authentic Writing assignment and look forward to using it with my 11th graders. I think the kids will be excited to actually be instructed NOT to write a 5-paragraph essay =)
