The north however was not a big fan of the idea of slavery. Many people though slavery was inhumane. The abolitionists were created and wanted to end slavery in the US.
   
 William Lloyd Garrison a abolitionist was known for his newspaper The Liberator. In 1833
he also made the American anti-slavery society. Angelina and Sarah Grimke gave lectures on why slavery was bad. Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth are the best known black abolitionists. Any wages they had, or property belonged to their husbands. There also was no law against husbands abusing their wife's. this upset many women because they wanted to do more then just sit back and watch everything go down.

  Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton had enough of this when they went to the convention of word antislavery and where not  aloud to participate. After this experience they decided to host the national women convention called the Serca Falls convention. At this convention they demanded equality for women.
