His most renowned works include <em>Two Treatises of Government </em>and <em>An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. </em>He was a primary influencer of philosophical concepts such as empiricism and political liberalism.          <description><![CDATA[<div>One of Locke's fundamental beliefs was empiricism. Empiricism is the notion that knowledge comes from experience. He argued that one cannot be certain about something without having the proper experience that is relevant to it. One of empiricism's main functions is to counter skepticism, the idea that human knowledge, in general, is unconvincing. Locke's empiricism contains the notion that objects have primary and secondary qualities. A primary quality is one that is physical, such as mass or location; qualities that exist regardless of whether the object is being experienced.          <description><![CDATA[<div>American Revolutionary Thomas Jefferson drafted many of his ideas for the&nbsp;<em>Declaration of Independence</em>. In his argument that the United States should be independent from Britain, Jefferson adopted Locke's belief that humans are entitled to the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and property. In terms of "life" Locke's argument was in favor of the preservation of mankind. For "liberty" he argued that individuals should be free to make their own choices as long as they do not interfere with the liberty of others. "Property" indicated ownership of one's self in addition to tangible land and goods.
