They can be found miles out to sea as well as in bays, lagoons, salt marshes, creeks, ship channels, and mouths of large rivers. Nesting mainly occurs on open beaches or along narrow bays. Loggerhead Turtles are known to migrate great distances, even as much as 1,500 miles.

• Establishing marine protected areas (MPA) to ensure these turtles have a safe place to nest, feed, and migrate freely
• Encouraging governments to strengthen legislation and provide funding for turtle protection
• Supporting the monitoring and patrolling of turtle nests in many parts of the world
• Helping equip local turtle conservationists
• Working with fisheries to switch to more turtle-friendly fishing hooks and advocating for the use of devices that excludes turtles from nets to reduce turtle bycatch
