         <description><![CDATA[<div>Loggerhead Turtles can be found in the Coastal Region of North Carolina. They can be found miles out to sea as well as in bays, lagoons, salt marshes, creeks, ship channels, and mouths of large rivers. Nesting mainly occurs on open beaches or along narrow bays.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Loggerhead Turtles are endangered because of loss of nesting habitat due to coastal development, predation of nests, and human disturbances (these include coastal lighting and housing development).&nbsp; These can disorient the hatchlings right after they emerge from their shells.&nbsp; Other major threats can include incidental capture in longline fishing, shrimp trawling, and pollution.<br><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loggerhead_sea_turtle">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loggerhead_sea_turtle</a></div>]]></description>
