The Black Death is one of the most serious plagues in human history. It spread in Europe, Asia and Africa from 1347 to 1352, and was the beginning of the second plague pandemic. It is generally believed that the disease originated in Asia: one said it originated in East Asia, the other said it originated in Central Asia. The disease began to spread in the East in 1346. In 1347, the Mongol army in Zanibe caused a large-scale spread of the disease when it attacked the Black Sea city of Kaffa.
