I received my Doctorate in Higher Education Administration and Leadership. The title of my dissertation is: Evaluating the effects of diversity courses and student diversity experiences on undergraduate students’ democratic values at a private urban research institution.

I have published two peer reviewed articles and have done over a dozen presentations internationally, nationally, and locally.

I studied abroad in Japan for about 6 months when I was 23 years old. I worked at Iwaki Junior College in Fukushima Prefecture and at Tenri University in Nara Prefecture. I worked in the International Center at both colleges. I knew I wanted to work in Higher Education but I was not clear in what role.

I visited Istanbul, Turkey. Beautiful country rich in history. I enjoyed visiting the cultural and historic centers to learn more about the Byzantine Empire which ended with the Muslim conquest which later became Constantinople, which then became the capital of the Ottoman Empire. FYI, I was not a big fan of the Grand Bazaar which is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 4,000 shops.

Gibraltar is 15 miles away from the coast of African. You can see Morocco from the Rock of Gibraltar and can also see the Atlantic Ocean merging with the Mediterranean Sea. Spain is next to Gibraltar and there is only one highway that goes into Spain that intersect with the airport. The picture below shows how traffic coming and going from the border of Spain needs to wait for the plane to cross the highway before they can go.

Cuba

I have been to Cuba twice. I have visited Cuba during Fidel Castro's presidency and also right after he died. I love the energy and vibe of the Cuban Nationals. The experiences I had in Cuba transformed by life.

Hot 8 Yoga

I am 49 years old and I am realizing that my body is wanting me to exercise differently. So I started doing hot 8 yoga (AKA yoga in a sauna-like environment). I am actually enjoying this form of movement and I am feeling healthier. Here are the health benefits of doing hot in a heated-environment:
