I would never think clean energy was relevant to me until I was educated on all of the negative outcomes due to non-clean energy. I think the students will care and appreciate clean energy when they learn about all the damage that can and is being done all around them without clean energy. Our children are our future. It is important for them to understand that they can make a difference. They can make the world a better place one little step at a time. That they can spread the word on the safety of their world and their future. 

- What is clean/renewable energy? Why do we need clean energy? How does solar energy work? What is solar energy? How can we use solar energy in our everyday lives.   

- Students will learn about the multiple ways that clean energy is provided and used. How renewable/ clean energy works. What the importance are for clean energy. What is solar energy? Why is it considered a clean energy source? How solar energy is used all around them and how they can use it in their lives. Students will cook s’mores using solar energy.  
-The grade I will be teaching is second grade  
-My students will be using Strategic Thinking, they will be developing a vision of a world of solar energy. They will be creating visuals of what the world would look like with and without solar energy and how it affects our life.

-   Create a poster of where solar energy comes from. What is solar energy, where can it be used.

-   Show videos, teach about the impacts clean energy makes in our world today and how it would be like without clean energy. 

-   Create a poster “A world without Clean energy” along with a short paragraph on why people need to use more clean/ renewable energy.

-       Post card of the thing they found most interesting about solar energy and why they think solar energy is important to them. For homework they must share it with someone outside of class and ask them what they think about solar energy? Did they know what solar energy was or is? Do they think clean energy is important why or why not? 

-Show videos, about the impacts clean energy makes in our world today and how it would be like without clean energy. 

-Create “A world without Clean energy” short paragraph on why people need to use more clean/ renewable energy.  This short paragraph will be attached to the visual presentation they have created on Day 3.

- Students will be split into three groups, they will each read the assigned book to that group. Once their group is done they will create a poster of what they read. They will present their poster and explain and talk about what their book was about and what they learned to the class.

How Solar Energy Works  by Jennifer Swanson (Goodreads Author), Glen Mullaly (Illustrator This book explains what solar energy is and how it is harnessed and used. The text discusses the history of the technology as well as need for solar power and how it could change our world.

My Light: How Sunlight Becomes Electricity  by Molly Bang (Illustrations)  A story explaining the basic concepts behind electricity and our energy resources the author and illustrator presents a celebration of the wonder and power of the sun and its radiance. With dazzling paintings and a simple poetic text.

Renewable Energy for Your Home: Using Off-Grid Energy to Reduce Your Footprint, Lower Your Bills and be More Self-Sufficient  by Alan Bridgewater, Gill Bridgewater  This book offers clear, solutions that any homeowner can out to use. It talks about cost, solutions that best fits their set-up, lifestyle, budget, and explains each possible energy solution. This will allow the students to see where they can use clean energy in their homes.
