  • Color blindness is a common hereditary condition in which one’s capacity to distinguish color is being affected.  
  • One can neither differentiate the difference between green and red or blue and yellow, the last type of color blindness is that they do not know any colors at all, this type of condition is a rare one. 
  • Based on the statistic, it has been reported that men are prone to this condition having about 8% of the population are affected. Men have the XY chromosome while women have the XX chromosome and since this hereditary condition targets the X chromosome the males are more vulnerable than the females.

It is because Visual pathways allow visual information to travel from the retina to the occipital lobe's visual cortex. Electrical signals carry visual information along neurons. When it reaches the visual cortex, we become aware of what we are seeing. When we look at something, light rays enter the eye and travel through the lens, crossing over to the opposite sides of the retina, allowing us to see. Ganglion cells transmit visual information from the retina, forming the optic nerve, which extends to the optic chiasm. Visual information travels via the optic tract from the optic chiasm to the thalamus, which relays sensory information to the cerebral cortex. This process is called Neuronal Pathways of Visual System.

  • Vision is a special sense of sight that is based on the light transmission via the eyes. 
  • Photoreceptors store visual information by storing light and transmitting electrical signals to other retinal neurons for processing and reconciliation. 
  • The signals are subsequently transmitted by the optic nerve to various parts of the cerebrum, which cycles the image and allows humans to see. 
  • The optic nerve in the eye connects to the visual managing community in our forebrain called the visual cortex. 
  • All of the information is converted into nerve impulses that are triggered by photosensitive compound reactions in the retina.
