I found a book cover called Tell your Story and there is a real picture of a girl with a cartoon unbrella and she is walking on a book that looks like a park. The path has words that are from the book, and on the side is a old pen that you would dip in ink, also the park had a lamp post and had birds on it, and the book was on a desk, and there was rain.

I think for decorative fonts my favorites were Bulgatti, Autumn Flowers, Matcha, Night Pumpkind, and Benedict Sans Light. I will say I did not like Ankh Sanctuary because of the a's in it, and I found ones like Florisa too extreme to read.

Confession time: I have always LOVED Papyrus. And yes, I know that we're strongly advised not to use it and that people don't like it anymore, so... I'm not quite sure what to do about it anymore.

I haven't seen this movie, but this has to be one of the best illustrated Disney covers I've seen in a long time! I know there's a lot going on here, but I think that makes the character stand out all the more. They almost seem isolated, or as if they are uncertain about what's ahead. This whole image really pulls me in, and that's what I look for in graphic design.

Thinking about fonts

My favorite fonts are Autumn Flower, Coffee Healing, Air Travelers, Bite Chocolate and Tiny Caps.

I did not like Dirty Punk because the way the letters are surrounded by the box is very lazy looking and not nice and also like Hard Race it is hard to read

My absolute favorite is Better Grade i find it very pretty and inviting, calming.

One thing i never put much thought about typography is the serif and sans serif

I've seen it before but didn't think about what the difference was i think the serif is pretty and adds a bit of personality to the letter

1.) Book: Wingfeather Tales-There is a lot to look at on the cover, an old man holding a book, and dragons are attacking a ship. The dragons are swirling all around. The colors and writing make it look mysterious.

2.) Book: Denison Algebra-The cover is clean and open. It has a picture of a field and mountains in the background. A man is the middle with his arms raised. Shows confidence and victory in math.

3.) Pencil box: Prismacolor-Picture of detailed, brightly colored parrot. Shows how well the pencils work.

2.) Book: The Bark of The Bog Owl- The title is in a very swirly font and written on a board that looks like it's nailed to the wooden background of the cover. It also shows alligator skin on the border. The purpose entertainment and to draw attention.

3.) Tostitos Chip Bag- The font is large and colorful and it shows the picture of chips and dip. The purpose is to advertise.

4.) Book: North or Be Eaten- The cover and the font is old fashioned looking. The cover is mostly red and the font is gold. In the center is a picture of the three children walking in the snow and out from the picture a clawed paw and reaching and has left "scratches" on the cover. The purpose is entertainment and to draw attention.

5.) Water cup- The cup is white. On two sides of the cup there is printed a drawing of a baby giraffe surrounded in a wreath of pink flowers. Below it printed my name. The purpose is decoration.

My favorite fonts are probably Autumn flowers or Clean Fragile. Both are easily readable and also pretty looking.

I don't care for Darlington Signature or Angelina, because they look messy, and I can't read them very easily.

One thing I learned about fonts is how someone can use the same font throughout the whole design, but make it look unique by just changing the weight and size.

I know I have used this one before because I really like it. It has the third rule, two thirds of it are in the water and one third of it is on land. I love the colours of it too because the water is dark and the land is bright. The dark in the water shows how dangerous that place is but how nice it is on land.

Pumpkin type was kind of funny looking but would be cool for the tittle of a fall banner. Black north was very bold and would make an impressive adventure book title. Autumn flower was pretty.

I did not like ankh sanctuary it was extremely difficult to read. The various versions of mandala monogram had way too much decoration to be able to read.

I learned that some types are very unique and some are very similar.

The Wild Robot Escapes book cover: The Wild Robot is in a factory with lots of vents and tubes. The colors of the tubes and vents are gray, teal, and red with the with Wild Robot on the vents.
Japanese hand fan: the wooden base of the fan is light with flower and heart carving. The fan part has a light purple background with darker purple flowers . The flowers are on a branch coming from the top and sides.
Mach box: the shape is a cylinder, it has a white background with palm leaves. In the middle of the opening there is a moss green line around. There is a plastic cover on the top that you can see through. And at the bottom that's were you can light your mach.
Crochet bag: the bag is a light blue, with yarn needles, crochet hearts and flowers, buttons, crochet hooks, and leaping llamas. At the top there is a zipper you can close. It also has handles and pockets.
T-SHIRT: A yellow t-shirt with a triangle in the back with fruit-like Cherries, pineapple, and watermelon. There's a smaller triangle in the front, slightly up, but still on the first triangle. The second triangle has a red ICEE slushy with a palm tree and a sun setting. Through both triangles it says, "Chill Vibes."

I did random fonts. And I don't really like Angular Anarchy.. All the angles really make it unpleasant to the eye. I also don't like Win Bugs.. They use bugs and its hard to understand...

I really like Advice.. It is really beautiful and I love how they use hearts as the top of the i.

I also like Beach Party. It gives beach vibes and it is really neat how they did all the different curves to make it look beautiful and some of the letters almost look like cursive.

A yearbook -- I like the cut and paste look of the design.
Little Women book -- I like the flowers and plants and how it's not really realistic but still realistic enough where you can tell who is who.
Westing Game book -- I like how the house is made out of dollar bills because in the book people try to win a lot of money.
God You Are book -- It's about God and I like how the sun is the O in GOD. I like the scene. It looks like a Psalm, which is what the book is about.
A puzzle -- I like National Parks. I like how the US kind of blends into all the nature stuff like the buffalo. I like the font.

Honey Butter. A Realistic Fiction middle grade novel. I think the cover is a good representation of the book itself because of the chalk art and the paint cards which are mentioned throughout the book. What caught my eye was the font and the playfulness of the cover. The purpose is to entice, to inform, and market.
A plastic bag with brightly colored bows on it. I like the color scheme and the consistent pattern of the bows. The purpose of the design is for decoration.
A set of dual-tip coloring markers. What caught my eye was the floral and insect pattern on the container. The purpose of this would be for decoration and marketing.
A canvas pencil case with a bow on it. I like how the overall design is simple and pretty. That is what drew me to it. The purpose of this design is for decoration and to encourage people to purchase this item.

Discover: Typography 🔤

I really enjoyed looking at all the different fonts on Type Space! Here are some of my favorite fonts I discovered today: Brondy, Charine, Halimun, Pufilo Tropic, and Zorai.

Also, here are a few I didn't really like: Forty Days, Mico, Gameria, Brownies Junk, High Top, and Kimane.

Two things I have learned in this lesson is what fonts to use and to avoid, and that fonts can affect how someone might view or feel about something.

“What A Lovely Day” frame. I like the fonts and the leaves added. The edges of the frame are also cute. There are only two kinds of fonts used, which is good. The purpose is to inform.
Kate Spade sign in a picture frame. Again, only two fonts are used. The purpose of this sign is to advertise and use for decoration.
The Little Book of Jane Austen. This adorable book has really nice fonts. I like the picture added of the woman, which is what caught my eye. The purpose is to sell. Also, to inform.
Juicy Couture air freshener. The design on this freshener is really cute. The bubbly handwriting caught my eye. To advertise and encourage the purchase of the brand is the purpose.

Design Discovery: Typography

Looking at all the fonts on FontSpace was really fun!

Here are some that caught my attention:

Angelone
Natalia (by Scooth)
Juliette
Lakehouse Tall and Skinny
Sun Type

There are so many more that I loved, but here are some that weren’t very impressive...

Angel Warriors: this font is hard to read because of the thickness of the letters and of how close they are.
Stars in the Sky: is hard to make out because the letters are basically leaning on each other.
Fruit Junk: is really hard to read.

I learned today what kerning, leading, tracking, and hierarchy are. Also, not to use more than two fonts in a project. That has been helpful to know.

I love this book! Everything looks good, but I think if I was the designer I would have chosen a different image or made it smaller. It looks a little too crowded. The image does match the message of the design, though (for example, the book is called "Little Women" and the picture has four girls, who are the "little women", in it). It is also a close-up image and has not been filtered, as it is an older picture.

This is a homeschool graduation announcement that I created for my brother. (I was trying to find something to add on his "plans after high school" like graduation cards sometimes have. What I put might be a little humorous, but I put it anyway since that’s what he does now lol 😂).

In this course I learned about grids and I used one on this project! I love the fonts on this one. Trying to add everything I learned in this course into my design wasn’t hard. This was so fun to do.

For this design, I used a template, but I changed the font, added different graphics, and changed the background color.

"The BookWanderers". I like the red cover with the gold. It gives it a fairytale vibe. I also like how there's multiple pages to different books that the characters go in, and the items are related to different stories to the book. The purpose is to draw interest to read the book.
"Happiness blooms here" decoration. I love the flowers and butterfly design. It looks like they took a rock and carved in the words. I like how it's not perfect and kind of messy. Its purpose is to be a decoration.
"Perfume bottle". I love the fonts and coloring from this bottle. Its purpose is to make sure you don't stink. :) And to advertise the product.
"I love music" notebook. I love the treble cleft design. It's also perfect for taking music notes. Its purpose is to meet the need of music enthusiast.
"B" picture. I love the colors with this, and I love the swirls. The purpose is to be a decoration, and to show B is a great letter. :)

If you haven't read the book, you should. Its really funny and imaginative.
