This book by Jillian Roberts offers unique perspectives to students about first using social media. This book creates scenarios that are very common for students, such as exploring social media through the lense of having an older sibling. This book touches on topics such as how to stay safe on the internet, cyberbullying and also on the positive side, how one can use social media to make the world a better place.

This story by Julia Cook is a great book to teach the lesson to students that what they post on social media will impact other people and will also follow them forever. When this young girl is acting negatively on the internet, her tail that follows her becomes uglier and she doesn't like feeling like she is an ugly person. When her actions on social media improve and she makes people feel good about themselves, it also makes her feel more positive and the tail that follows her becomes prettier.

Jeanne Willis created a great read for students to focus on the dangers that social media and the internet can have with online shopping and meeting up with people you think you know. This story about a chicken that gets addicted to online shopping shows students the lesson that social media can consume you if boundaries are not set. This chicken also decides to meet up with someone and when they arrive, this new "friend" is not who Chicken thought they were. This book gently reminds students about being safe on the internet and to not meet up with people on the internet without supervision.

Children get consumed by social media and games and get quite upset when these devices are taken away. This book shows first hand why boundaries with social media and electronics need to be in place.

Count Me In! by Varsha Bajaj is a great story that highlights the positive impacts that social media can have on society. This refreshing story focuses on how a group of people band together to spread the word of injustice that impacted a central character. The racist actions of a person that wronged this character were not gone unnoticed and students spread the word of these terrible actions so that people are aware of these injustices and to hopefully make the world a better place in the future.
