Animals and humans are equal and need us to respect, care, and protect. However, I have noticed that cases of animal abuse have been increased in a fast trend. This heartbreaking situation indicates the urgent need for effective implementation of comprehensive legislation to safeguard the well-being of animals.  

Firstly, I believe that the punishment for animal abuse needs to be significantly strict. The current punishments are failure to effectively suppress illegal behavior. By setting higher fines, extending sentences time, and be prohibited to keep any animals, we can ensure that animal abuse can have serious punishment. In addition, it is important for the government to establish a register of animal abuse offenders and open it to the public to prevent them from continuing to harm animals and ensure the safety of our animals.

Furthermore, the government and organizations needs to implement stricter laws and regulations to combat the illegal wildlife trade. Illegal trafficking of endangered species is not only one or some of specific species but also a threat to animal biodiversity and global ecosystems. Through cooperation between governments and organizations of various countries, strengthening supervision and law enforcement, illegal animal trade can be curbed in some extent.

Moreover, it is necessary to improve the industry environment involving animals, especially in the livestock and food industries. The current practices in these industries are very inhumane towards animals, leading to their long-term suffering. It is crucial to legislate to require these industries to adopt milder animal handling procedure, prohibit cruel killings, especially intensive confinement and unsuitable breeding environments, in order to protect the welfare of these animals that serve human’s daily life.

Additionally, in order to further protect animals, we need to establish a more compassionate society. Add animal protection education into school curriculum and organize public awareness activities to raise awareness of the importance of treating animals well and respecting them. These measures will make the public subconsciously realize the importance of protecting animals and take responsibility for their pets in daily life.
