Ruthless dictator Adolf Hitler was elected as leader of Germany. Hitler promised to better the country's economy after the depression. Hitler ended up wanting more power over the world and he hated Jews, he had Jews give their jobs over to non Jews and brain washed the people of Germany to hate Jews. Hitler would end up invading a lot of Europe and this is one big reason that World War 2 started. Hitler also started the holocaust and is responsible for systematically slaughtering millions of Jews. By the end of WW2 Hitler would commit suicide because he didn't want to be punished for his crimes.

Germany had overwhelming military superiority over Poland, so Germany invaded Poland, mostly with air attacks that left Poland on it's knees. Poland's last fighting force surrendered on October 6th, 1939, this sealed Poland's fate as the Soviet Union had also invaded Eastern Poland. Germany would eventually take over Eastern Poland. With Poland Hitler had another country under his rule, he eventually would create many concentration camps in Poland where Jews would be relocated to, these camps had horrible conditions and many people that entered wouldn't come out alive.

Hitler decided that Germany's best plan of action to weaken the allied forces was to attack the allied trade routes over the seas, the seas were important since the allied countries could supply each other with the goods they needed through trade, Germany's best shot was to attack with submarines , also known as U-boats. The allies needed help in taking down the U-boats so America decided to travel with more ships and bigger ships. Eventually the allies blew the U-boats out of the water. With Germany's offensive out of the allied trade routes the allies could supply each other freely and also had military power over the sea, giving the allies a big advantage over the axis powers.

Kristallnacht, also known as "The night of broken glass", or, "The November Pogroms", was an attack on the Jews in Germany that lasted 2 days and 2 nights, named after the broken glass that littered the streets. In these riots Non-Jewish Germans attacked synagogues, Jewish people, and Jewish owned businesses. The pretext for Kristallnacht was the shooting of German diplomat Ernest Vom Rath by a Polish-Jewish student, Herschel Grynszpan. Word of Rath’s death got to Hitler, his minister of propaganda Joseph Goebbels, suggested to Hitler that they should gather loyalists urging violent riots and stage them as “Spontaneous demonstrations”. The police and the fire department didn't interfere during the Kristallnacht since they were told not to. In 2 days and nights, more than 1,000 synagogues were burned or damaged, 7,500 Jewish businesses were looted or ransacked, at least 91 Jewish people were killed, and the rioters vandalized Jewish hospitals, homes, schools, and cemeteries. The tragedy of Kristallnacht was an event Hitler used to sway the German people to hate Jews.

Auschwitz had different sections and it's population fluctuated all through out World War 2. Auschwitz consisted of mainly Jewish people, in Auschwitz the residents were slaves and had to work for the Nazis that guarded the camp. The camp had barbed wire and armed guards, the prisoners of Auschwitz were treated horribly, many died of starvation if they haven't already died in the gas chamber. Many prisoners of Auschwitz were tortured or experimented on, Auschwitz was a camp of death and sorrow, this is one of the darkest times of the Holocaust and shows the unspeakable acts that happened to Jews at the time. Auschwitz was liberated at the end of the war, and the few remaining survivors of Auschwitz were freed.

Pearl Harbor was a U.S naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii, that was the scene of a devastating attack carried out by the Japanese forces. On the morning of the day of the attack, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on the base, where the Japanese managed to destroy or damage nearly 20 U.S navy vessels, including eight battleships, and over 300 planes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack, some of the casualties included civilians, 1,000 others were wounded. The Japanese government believed that the only way to solve its economic and demographic problems was to expand into its neighbor’s territory and take over its import market. Pearl Harbor is the main reason America joined World War 2. Pearl Harbor also lead to Executive Order 9906.

The female percentage of the U.S workforce went from 27% to 37% since then. Many women wanted to get out and help with the wartime effort. One of the groups in this work force were the Black Rosies. The Black Rosies were a group of black women who produced planes, weapons, and other military vehicles in America during WW2. The Rosies faced a lot of racism in their industry and a lot of their white co-workers got promotions over them. The Black Rosies put the prejudice against them to the side and served their country well, supplying the U.S troops with the weaponry and artillery they needed.

The U.S military wanted to bring the Navajo into it's military but the Navajo were against fighting and killing others so they operated the radio. Using the Navajo language, the Code talkers sent radio messages that the Japanese couldn't intercept or decode since the Navajo language is very complicated and most people don't understand it. The code talkers used their cultural language to fool the Japanese and keep America's plans and secrets safe, the Japanese had no idea what they were listening to.

Order 9906 was an order from president Franklin Roosevelt that would put Japanese-Americans in internment camps with other Japanese-Americans so they couldn't commit espionage on the U.S after suspicions of espionage after Pearl Harbor. Most of these camps were based in the West coast of the U.S. These camps were often overcrowded and weren't designed for the massive amount of Japanese-Americans that would occupy these spaces. The living conditions of these camps were poor and the Japanese-Americans were guarded by armed soldiers and barbed wire, even Japanese-American kids were placed in these camps. The Japanese-Americans had lost everything and were being held at horribly maintained camps, this event showed the prejudice America had against Japanese-Americans at the time. Eventually the U.S took some Japanese-Americans into the army and they fought in Europe with the other U.S troops.

The allies ended up advancing on the Germans and liberating all of Northern France by August of that summer.

The Yalta Conference was a meeting between the 3 World War 2 allied leaders, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. The allied leaders discussed the post-war fate of defeated Germany and the rest of Europe, the terms of Soviet entry into the ongoing war in the Pacific against Japan and the formation and operation of the new United Nations. During the Yalta conference Stalin agreed to fight Japan with the U.S within 2-3 months after Germany's surrender. The allied leaders also decided that they would demilitarize Germany and "Denazify" Germany. The leaders wanted to form a new United Nations, the leaders also discussed land and who got which countries. By March 1945, it had become clear that Stalin had no intention of keeping his promises regarding political freedom in Poland. Instead, Soviet troops helped squash any opposition to the provisional government based in Lublin, Poland. When elections were finally held in 1947, they predictably solidified Poland as one of the first Soviet satellite states in Eastern Europe. With Stalin's troops occupying much of Germany and Eastern Europe, Stalin was able to effectively ratify the concessions he won at Yalta, pressing his advantage over Truman and Churchill (who was replaced mid-conference by Prime Minister Clement Atlee). Stalin did not want to keep his promises which ended up leading into the cold war.

Atomic bombs are very devastating weapons that can wipe out a massive amount of people in a short amount of time, destroying anything in it's way, and can leave an area radiated for years. With the power of the atomic bomb many leaders fighting in WW2 wanted that new found power, who ever got their hands on the atomic bomb first would have military dominance over the entire world. The U.S had a top secret project known as the Manhattan project, where the U.S was building the first ever functional atomic bomb. Europe has been defeated and U.S was still fighting against Japan, the U.S was looking for a way to end the war, quickly, and efficiently The U.S won the arms race, and they were ready to use their new found devastating weaponry, the target: Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The creation of atomic bombs has created a new type of dangerous warfare that could get out of hand very quickly if used by the wrong people. Did you know there's enough nuclear weaponry in the world to end the world multiple times over?!
