During the research of chair duets i found the frantic assembly website which enabled me to look at submissions from people all across the world to this website to be made into a chair duet film. When i was on this website and watching the submissions i had picked up on the different variations of moves that each individual pair had incorporated. This made me want to make my chair duet with my partner more unique and interesting.

The information i had gathered in the lesson was astonishing, i feel more educated on the subject. After researching i found that there are a diverse range of different styles in puppetry, the most unique i feel is Bunraku as it has the most complex to learn, you spend 10 years on each learning area of the puppet with a maximum of 30 years of mastering a puppet. My own interpretation was the stages of a broken family but within floors, for instance the top was messy and destoryed making it seem the family had just left the room in a massive argument. I instantly thought about the shows that i watch at home because the shows I do watch are animations such as The Simpsons or Family Guy and my mind switched to one of those families and thought about the deeper showings through different aspects of their day to day life such as abuse and arguments. I focused on this idea as i thought that the piece had alot of meaning behind it and how blinded we are by it's childish humour that we can't see the really hard hitting impacts behind it. The use of soundscape can make a scene with tension and make it more emotion filled just by sound. The whole setting can just be based by just the sounds so using this method would make the setting even more of an impression upon the audience to make you feel more involved in the piece and the dialogue being spoken and acted out.]]> 2017-06-14 11:47:26 UTC https://padlet.com/painmitch/u3c0guw841kj/wish/176387308 painmitch https://padlet.com/painmitch/u3c0guw841kj/wish/176395677 During the mindmap period, everyone had some great chemistry and we all threw in some ideas that we had from the trip to Dennis Sever's house and we decided to do something based around suicide watch and the whole idea of someone and their imaginary friend with the events that uncurl from the beginning til the twist end. As this went on we decided to improvise the scene in little sections so we had something to go off of and write down for the scene itself. We started to document the lines we had said during the improvisation stage of the devising period so we had a rough basis to go off of so it wouldn't be as difficult to remember where we were when we'd come back to it. As this went on we discussed that it'd be helpful to hint at a few characters, Amelia and Sarah, Finn's ex and Finn's crush. As the scene progresses, the audience can start to see Finn's feelings for Sarah but Sarah see's a propped up picture of Finn's ex Amelia which makes Sarah think that Finn is in a relationship yet Sarah likes Finn too. Sarah friendzones Finn but Finn then makes it very obvious that the situation has become extremely awkward. Sarah then leaves as my character enters and plays the sympathy game with Finn  until his father comes in.

In this scene we wanted to show that Finn was going a bit nuts and we did this by making him pay attention to Jake when other people were in the room which causes  speculation with the other characters and question his mentality. Amelia starts to talk about herself and Finn dating and how he ended things. This sets off Finn as he only ended things because she wasn't happy and starts to want her back. Finn's mind has now gone completely insane, Jake has now become a real person and starts arguing with Finn's dad after he bursts in and see's my character, we wanted to make this scene as confusing as possible so we thought it would be fitting for someone to talk to the imaginary friend, we chose Finn's dad because they have both always been there for him, including birth. We had the argument end with Jake saying "You? A good Father?, I am more than a father to him than you have ever been and ever will.". We hear Finn shout and the characters walk off of the stage. Finn is alone with a doctor on stage until he mentions my character i go on stage and try to introduce myself to him but he takes no notice of me. The doctor gets confused and goes off stage to tell his father. As a group we thought that it'd be a good idea to split apart Finn and Jake. We had the idea of Finn becoming better and well enough to hold his own against his mental illness, this is the idea we went with. Before Jake leaves for good though Finn and Jake embrace in a hug as a last goodbye. As Jake leaves we overhear that the doctor is telling Finn's father that Finn has severe bipolar, hence the sudden change in emotions and the flip outs. Dad comes on and he assures Finn that they're going home and it'll be ok as it's just them now, they walk off stage together. I think that my focus and determination in rehearsals was good as i had come up with lots of naturalistic movements and ideas within the mindmapping phase of devising. I had great focus whilst rehearsing as well, if i wasn't running a scene i was writing my lines or the transcript in my book. A negative in this was that I had spent so much times trying to get my lines written and formed together to make sense that i had to rush the line learning which was difficult for everyone whilst trying to rehearse. Overall, I believe my ablity in these terms was a good push for a higher standard of work.
