Even though, this issue is split, I find that I can relate to the fear/hope of video games hurting your brain and helping your brain.

I disagree with this article because of all of the amazing options to be outside in Colorado. They might make a case that video games don't hurt your brain, but I think everybody (kids and adults) grow their brain best with the real life challenges provided by the beautiful outdoors of Colorado.

@Ms. Sise I can see why you think that, but I agree
with the artical. The artical states that a kid with autism was more opened up after video games. As a gamer my self, I have made much more friends whilst playing video games because there was a whole audience of people at this school who I did not know of. There is also certain genres of video games that can tell you how to do certain things in the real world. There is a game called Battlefield 1 which shows and explains the battles and places took place in WW1 and the reasons why it was fought. Plus, what if there is bad weather
outside.

@ Ms. Sise I see your point however, in some video games it gives you real like problems and works on your social skills. For example, in the Walking Dead Season 2 when clementine encounters a stranger trying to steal supplies she has to use her communication skills to get the guy to leave and save her group.

@Ms.Sise I agree with this article because I think that it depends on the person and the game. Maybe there is a person who doesn't want to play outside because it's 108 degrees (I have had that experience. If you want it, try Waco, Texas. Seriously, though, you don't want them). However, I agree with you, as well, because in such a great space, video games for 3-6 hours is way too much. I get one hour, tops, and 30 minutes, min.

@ Ms. Sise I agree with you and disagree because we all know that playing outside is healthy for you, but so could playing video games. In my opinion when you play NBA2k, or Madden, or Fifa that can help you strategies what you are doing and it helps you plan what your future could be like if you want to be a athlete. Also, in the text it says that playing video games can help you be brave against people who are hurtful and you can increase the size of the things you like to do.

I have very mixed opinions. After reading all of your comments, I'm not sure which side I'm on. I think that this theory works in some cases. I think that it depends on the video game. Some specific video games can be good for you, and some can be very bad. I also think it depends on the person playing the game. Different people have different brains, and different brains need different things, which mean different people need different challenges. For example, you could have a pair of twins, both the same gender, same hair and eye color same everything, except for their brains. One twin might benefit from outdoor challenges, like climbing a mountain, or fishing. The other twin might benefit from playing video games. Games like bejeweled, and adventure games. I think that this article just shows how special, unique, and different everyone is.

I see how some people could think that video games are super good for your brain, but there is nothing that you can't learn from the real world that you can from a video game and the real world gives you more real experience and is more rewarding. If there was an app where you could complete the Girl Scout Gold Award as a game and you did the Gold Award on the game instead in real life, you wouldn't get to have an exclusive scholarship opportunity like you would if you actually completed the project.

@Ms. Sise, I agree with you. More kids should be getting exercise outside, and getting fresh air that their body needs. Not just sitting around all day playing Pokemon or Call of Duty. Now, I personally love going on my Xbox, and playing Call of Duty, but I stopped once I realized that I have more homework to do, and that I need fresh air, and I have chores. Video games also interfere with homework, and not getting you homework done, but when you have headphones you can also connect with friends on the PS4 or Xbox. Today's society is to not go outside, and enjoy the warm, and windy weather. Instead, it's either being on your phone, or Xbox playing video games. Sometimes, when I play video games, I think I need to read instead of doing this, but then I think, "Just five more minutes" until that leads up to a hour, then another hour, then another hour, so I respectfully disagree with this article because kids brains can block out all the education that they need. Sometimes all you need is some friends, and a mouth to start talking instead of gluing your eyes to the t.v or phone screen playing video games for hours and hours, not doing anything that your teacher assigns you. I also think that kids should go try out for sports like soccer, or basketball , or baseball, any of those things. Just go outside, and run your heart out playing sport or exercising, instead of having your hands glued to that Xbox, or Play station controller.

Also Pokemon has a new thing, (or it was a new thing last year) Pokemon Go! It makes kids and a few adults want to go outside and play.
