My goal is to incorporate student reflection into my teaching. I have already incorporated goal-setting and reflection for the course as a whole and for specific tests, by giving students opportunities (time in class) to write about how they feel they are progressing, whether they’re on track to meet their goals, and what they can change if they’re not. The goals they set are 3-tiered: acceptable, good, and excellent.

Now, I would like to increase my students’ awareness of our learning objectives on a daily basis. I will include in my lesson plans time to ask students (different ones each day) to reiterate what our objectives are. I will do this at the beginning of a lesson (right after I’ve said it myself), in the middle of the lesson, and at the end of the lesson.

Even though I started with data driven instruction, I felt it was important for me to utilize technology in my classroom. New goal, utilize technology for integrating lessons that engage students with content and curriculum.

1. Implementing lessons that utilize technology. The technology portion provides a source for students to research, analyze and engage with the content and aligned standards.

2. Utilized group activities (Gallery walks, projects) webquest (stations), and research. Students have been successful with all these areas of instruction. Utilizing kahoot and jeopardy style games for review.

1. Steps I have taken towards my own goal of increasing the amount of student reflection happening in my classroom include having an area on students' goal sheets for them to actually comment about their progress to the previous units' goals, rather than simply checking it off.
2. I am incorporating this into lessons by ensuring that each unit, students have time to reflect on the previous units' progress and use that to inform their next round of goal setting.

Goal: Integrating Digital Content to enhance student engagement.

Steps Taken:
Identify units that have instructional time too dependent on whole group direct instruction
Identify lessons within those units that rely too heavily on whole group direct instruction

Steps Ongoing:
Identify lessons within those units that would allow for overview/exploration of a topic after short direct instruction of the specific learning target (independence & flexibility)
Blend technology into WGDI lessons to break up the flow for whole group checks-for-understanding
Change the structure of WGDI lessons to allow for small group checks-for-understanding
Blend technology into WGDI lessons to allow for a change in the dynamic of lesson structure
Examples that students can do on their phones: quizlet, kahoot, padlet, Teams, Onenote
Examples that students need laptops for: group research & video watching

When evaluating my goal for the Core Four it is most clear to me that the functionality of my class is building on what pieces have been put on place previously. We are preparing the students for college, so I try to focus on what I am seeing happening there. My goal is to increase student reflection and ownership. My weight training students write goals at the beginning of the semester and track their progress each week. My PE students take the content they are learning and relate it to their lives/goals/fitness levels.
I incorporate this into my lessons by asking question on the lifting cards that allow the students to reflect on their learning and goals. I also take time to talk with the students individually about what they are successful with and what they are struggling with. Getting this personal feedback allows me to revisit and revise lessons that students struggled with.

My goal is to have students reflect on their learning.

The step I have taken is to work on how different classes will begin to do this. Each class has unique approaches to what level I want them to reflect and track those reflections. Looking through options and ways to make it most meaningful.
I am having students work in small groups and am slowly adding tech applications with the help of Tracy Matakas. Today I worked with Schoolnet and Math-space in an attempt to create relevant materials for my Alg 1 classes.

My goal is focused on student ownership pertaining to setting and developing personal learning goals in reading, writing, and presenting.
To date, I've developed reflection tools for reading, writing, and presentations; however, the modifications that I am working on making include the student reflecting and understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses and translate that understanding into an opportunity to correct specific weaknesses and to build on strengths in these areas.

Today, students reflected on errors they made on a multiple choice reading test and reflected on the reading mistake they are making looking for a pattern of mistake. They developed a plan to reduce making the same types of mistakes in the future. Tomorrow students will be self-grading their essays looking to defend the score they earned with specific textual evidence that illustrates a strength or weakness as indicated. They will then complete some remediation exercises and will set goals concerning the improvement that will be non-negotiable in their next writing piece.

My students are going to finally get the education they deserve! I am going to make a gradual, but determined, transference of responsibility for instruction from myself to my students. My old school techniques are mostly outdated - and popular thought seems to dictate that I should shelf my instructional practices and replace it with digital methods. Instead of watching me drone on and on about the significance of the Brown vs. Board of Education decision, kids will be inspired to peruse a variety of digital media to draw their own conclusions - blended-style.

· Based on your own goal what steps have you taken forwards your goal?
o Currently I am in the process of working with my CRT Teachers to develop opportunities for students to be more self-reflective.
o I have also been working on my questioning strategies to stimulate student lead reflective conversations.
o I am researching different ways I can utilize self-reflection rubrics toward specific assignments.
· How are you incorporation your steps into your lesson?
o During independent/group work I poses reflective questions to individuals and groups.
§ The questioning strategies are being posed to students with mixed results. Students that are already reflective show signs of increase. A few students have displayed little concern for self-reflection and avoid or ignore the questions.

My goal is for the students to be able to take more ownership of their learning in calculus by allowing them to work through the material in their own way.

1) The major step I have taken was to research digital resources and applications to provide an alternative to paper and pencil notes/textbook.

2) I have incorporated Khan Academy's AP program as well as utilizing Microsoft Teams and Geogebra applets to provide instruction/feedback/communication in a digital setting

My goal is to have students reflect more on their mistakes and figure out some cause/effect relationship between the work they do throughout a unit and the result on each unit assessment. To this point I have instituted a new procedure for test corrections.
Next steps are to incorporate similar chances for reflection and ownership on a daily basis through evaluation of daily homework.

I want to add more student reflection and goal writing into my classroom. To accomplish this, students are logging scores on timed writes to see personal growth. Likewise, they will be reflecting (metacognition) and writing goals to focus on between each essay. These steps have been modeled with the class and are done weekly. Students will then report goals in future writer's conferences to discuss if they've met their goals and need to set new ones, or if they need to edit their goals and create sub-goals to be successful.
Students are given multiple ways to solve problems, as well as many differentiated options to learn said material.

My goal was to integrate technology into the cells unit for my class. I converted a traditional literacy sheet into a sway that included video links and teacher recordings. The final assessment was a forms quiz that gave me data with their progress.
For future lessons, I will use student feedback to model my expectations and alter the assignment.

1- My goal to utilize data to personalize learning. I found an article called "Aim for individual mastery and the rest will follow". It is useful in small group as students are not allowed to move on until they have demonstrated mastery of the writing concepts being taught.
2- This is incorporated into my lessons when students must have each step in the writing process verified and validated before moving to the next step. It allows for ongoing checking for understanding, which is a form of informal data.

1. Have given students opportunities to take ownership of their note taking and word problem strategies. They are given alternative ways to solve problems and must explain their thinking.
2. Calling out students to do more than just state an answer. They must explain their process, supporting it with examples.
