In preparation for her career, she enrolled at Southern Illinois University School of Law, which awarded her a juris doctor. As a law student, Heidi Scott served as student editor of the school’s Law Journal and as president of its graduate student housing organization. Earlier, she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in international relations from Luther College. After completing her law degree, Heidi Scott entered the public sector by joining the legal staff of the Illinois Department of Revenue. Over her tenure there, she maintained such responsibilities as advising legislators, litigating tax enforcement cases, answering questions from taxpayers, and performing research linked to audits. Outside of her career, she has engaged in local affairs as an elected member of the Board of Trustees of Brown County Public Library.
