I started a new anime called 'How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?' over the short period where we were out of school.
I mostly studied and worried about the storm, and got more motivated to work out! I guess my primary goal is to really focus on school more since I'm a Sophomore and will be heading into junior year soon. I am thinking more seriously about my life path/chosen career and have discovered I would probably be better in a law field. But I would definitely need to overcome my shyness if I want to stand in court and defend someone. (I plan on maybe being a lawyer and moving up to an attorney I'm not sure which field yet maybe something in criminology).

The poor whites couldn't stand the rich whites, the rich whites despised the poor whites, the middle-class whites were jealous of the aristocratic whites, the whites born in France looked down upon the locally born whites, mulattoes envied the whites, despised the blacks and were despised by the whites; free Negroes brutalized those who were still slaves, Haitian born blacks regarded those from Africa as savages. Everyone—quite rightly—lived in terror of everyone else. ...Haiti was hell, but Haiti was rich".
— The French historian Paul Fregosi

Body; What is the Haitian Revolt? When and where did it occur? ; The Haitian Revolution ( révolution haïtienne ) was a successful insurrection by self-liberated slaves against French colonial rule in Saint-Domingue, now the sovereign state of Haiti. The revolt began on August 22nd, 1791, and ended in 1804 with the former colonies' independence. It involved black, biracial, French, Spanish, British, and Polish participants—with the ex-slave Toussaint Louverture emerging as Haiti's most charismatic hero. The revolution was the only slave uprising that led to the founding of a state which was both free from slavery (though not from forced labour) and ruled by non-whites and former captives. It is now widely seen as a defining moment in the history of the Atlantic World.

body; Why did the citizens of Haiti revolt?; "The vast majority of the population of Haiti, then the extremely financially successful French colony of Saint-Domingue, consisted of African slaves.

body; The rest consisted of white plantation owners, white artisans and shopkeepers, and affranchise (free people of mixed or African descent). Some, wealthier than others of the white artisans and shopkeepers.

body; The causes of the Haitian Revolution included the affranchise’ frustrated aspirations, the brutality of slave owners, and inspiration from the French Revolution."

body; How did the revolt impact Haitian civilization and history? ; "The excesses of that contemptible treatment is the very reason why the Haitian Revolution was so successful: the treatment of slaves and Mulattoes in Haiti was so bad that it forced the most violent and ultimately, the most successful slave insurrection in history."

Summary; "Put simply, the Haitian Revolution, a series of conflicts between 1791 and 1804, was the overthrow of the French regime in Haiti by the Africans and their descendants who had been enslaved by the French and the establishment of an independent country founded and governed by former slaves."

Conclusion; Concluded from my research; through the struggle, the Haitian people ultimately won independence from France and thereby became the first country to be founded by former slaves.
Although, the warfare of the Haitian Revolution destroyed the capital and infrastructure of the economy, Haiti lacked diplomatic and trade relations with other nations and Haiti lacked investment, both foreign and domestic investment.
They still made an effort to fight, to free themselves and it worked.

Often times, I hear people say things like; "Your frontal-lobe isn't developed until about the age of 21" The reason why I bring this up is because it's actually essential to this topic. Our frontal lobes as a whole, is responsible for higher cognitive functions such as memory, emotions, impulse control, problem solving, social interaction, and motor function. Damage to the neurons or tissue of the frontal lobe can lead to personality changes, difficulty concentrating or planning, and impulsivity.
I say all that to get a point across, responsible decisions may depend on how and when that part of the brain develops. We are highly impulsive for most of our lives, a toddler tantrum for example or cutting off a student's hair is just a few examples.

Life choices...At first I was confused on how to go about writing this, but I do have quite a bit to say.
Life choices are what determines your future the outcome of your past and placement of your present, life choices are so incredibly important because everything you do is affiliated with your future outcomes.
From the day you are born, you aren't exactly sentient, most of your choices are made for you, until you hit around 2-3. You start deciding you don't want baby formula, you want your parents' food next thing you know it's elementary and your making decisions on assignments, should i go against the grain and color this ladybug pink or stay in the box and go with red and black. Your life choices define you as a person, of course if you aren't happy with them you can always start over brand new, but you can't be the infant you once were without a care in the world.

Drama – It Entertains You

It is the memoirist’s duty to make the memoir come alive for the reader. To do this, we have to focus on the dramatic parts of the story. All the days you spent thinking about things, feeling things, and wondering about things are mostly going to be left out of the story. As Isaac Bashevis Singer says, ‘The full tale of any life would be both utterly boring and utterly unbelievable.’
There is nothing more boring than a consistently introspective story. We have to show what happened to us as well as what we thought about it. Drama uses tension to create a sense of heightened emotion in relatable human experiences.
Relevance – It Makes You Think

Readers of memoirs want to relate to the story. They want to find a resonating relevance to the story in their own lives. This does not mean they have gone through the same things you have. It means that they can relate to the emotions and situations the memoirist feels and encounters with regard to a specific situation. To do this, we have to focus on a theme in our memoir.

Do Now 11/1/22 Adolescence and the Teenage Crush

start: 7:44 AM
finish: 7:55 AM

Teenage crushes have a significant role to play in the journey of adolescence.

Consider crushes are of two kinds – identity crushes and romantic crushes. In both cases, the teenager feels smitten by a compelling person who captivates their attention, for good and ill. (A third kind is the celebrity crush that shapes ideals and stirs fantasies, but there is usually no interpersonal contact to play them out. However, this is definitely where the market for celebrity posters comes in, to decorate teenage bedroom walls.)

In all three cases, the young person largely projects onto another person idealized attributes the admirer highly values and wants to be associated with. Then she or he attaches strong positive feelings to the perfectly wonderful image that has been created. Crushes have more to do with fantasy than with reality, and they tell much more about the admirer than the admired. It’s because they usually prove unrealistic that in a relatively short time they soon wear off. But it is because of the idealization that crushes have such momentary power. This is why parents need to respect an adolescent crush and not dismiss or put it down. After all, it is an early approximation of love. While it lasts it is seriously held, so it should be seriously treated.

Identity crushes are formed by finding someone they much admire, want to become like, and treat as a leader or model they are eager to imitate and follow. Romantic crushes are formed by finding someone whom they find powerfully attractive, who they feel excited to be around, and with whom they want to spend a lot of time. In both cases, the person with the crush gives enormous power of approval to the object of their crush – wanting to be liked by them and wanting to be like them, willing to do a lot to get in the other person’s good graces. They go out of their way to be around each attachment.

There is a great outbreak of romantic crushes and gossip about them (“Guess who likes who?”) in middle school. By this time, early adolescence and the separation from childhood has caused young people to want to act more grown up, and sexual maturity from puberty has motivated them to act in more young manly and young womanly ways. Since girls tend to enter puberty before boys, they are more likely to experience the wave of crushes first, more drawn to boys than boys are to them, taking romantic feelings seriously that boys treat lightly or even laughably. However the time for same-age boys to become romantically smitten is not far off, and when it arrives a crush proves to be no laughing matter when they become smitten too.

Because a romantic crush is a potent mix of idealization and infatuation, it doesn’t require knowing another person well at all. In some cases a superficial impression can be provocation enough. “I like how she’s so quiet and watchful and keeps to herself.” “I like how what others think doesn’t matter to him.” As mentioned, although the crush appears to be about attraction to another person, it is actually about projection of valued attributes onto another person – a statement about what they find attractive. In this, crushes are very revealing. “My son is always getting crushes on young women who seem the opposite of him, as fun loving as he is serious.” Crushes are not only the stuff that dreams are made of; they signify a lot about the dreamer.

I feel like because we take crushes so seriously and obsess over them it gets in the way with school and other life factors --but there isn't really anything we can do.

Do Now 11/3/22 How to use academic time wisely?

With 24 hours in a day and 7 days a week, time is constrained. As such, time is a commodity and a resource that’s well worth maximizing, especially when you are a college student. In this article, we are going to share some of the best time management tips for college students to make it feel like you have more time, or at least, just enough time to get everything you’d want to do.
What is Time Management?

Time management refers to the ability to use time effectively. Although there’s a constraint on time, time management can make it feel like there’s more of it in a day, depending on how you structure your schedule.

Since time management is considered a skill, it can be learned and strengthened. That’s why we’re sharing how to manage time in college.
Time Management Tips for Students

Keeping this all in mind, let’s take a look at some of these time management tips for students.

Set Goals

Perhaps one of the most important steps in being able to manage your time well is to know what you are using your time for in the first place. By setting goals and identifying time wasters, you can help to keep yourself on a more efficient track.

To set goals, take a look at what you spend your time on. For example, if you use the “Screen Time” app on a iPhone, you can find out how much time you spend and how you spend it using your phone. If you notice that you spend 5 hours a day on social media apps, then you may want to set a goal to cut it down to 2 instead. By doing so, you will free up 3 hours of your day for other activities.

Make Note of Deadlines

When you’re in college, you will be taking several classes at a time. Within each class, you’ll have assignments and tests with different due dates. While it can become overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be when you are practicing time management. One thing you can do is to write down all your deadlines ahead of time in a clear chart, on a calendar, or even on a sheet of paper. This way, you can schedule study time and time to work on assignments according to what is due first.

Start with Small Tasks / Break Up Large Tasks

When you have a long to-do list, you may feel defeated just by looking at it. Instead, you can write it in an order that will work in your favor. To explain, consider placing all the small and low-level tasks at the beginning of your day’s to-do list. By fulfilling these small and plentiful tasks, you gain momentum and already go into the day with a sense of accomplishment. Then, if you have large tasks or assignments that will take multiple hours or days to work on, break them down into smaller parts. Doing this helps you to stay motivated rather than stare at the task without knowing where to begin because the size of the task can provoke fear. Basically, you are making tasks manageable rather than allowing them to seize control of your mind.

Create a schedule

One of the biggest recommendations that you’ll find when learning about time management is to use a schedule to your advantage. You can set up a schedule using digital tools like phones or computers using the calendar app. Or, you can even do so manually by writing your schedule down in a planner. Depending on how granular you want to get, you can break up days into blocks of hours or even minutes. Before you set your schedule, write down the aspects that you are looking to include, i.e. social activities, lecture hours, study time, cooking time, exercise time, family time, etc.

If you’re attending an online college.

Use Checklists

A weekly checklist can also help to better manage your time when you are in college. Here’s how it can work: At the start of each week, write down the assignments and projects that are upcoming for that week. You may even want to color-code them based on the subject. You can input this check(list) of items into your schedule. By referring back to the checklist, you will make sure that no item is forgotten or overlooked.

Use Breaks Wisely

A major aspect of time management is how you choose to use breaks. Besides taking intentional breaks to do nothing and recharge, the breaks that already exist in your schedule can serve as “extra” time. For example, you can complete tasks using the time between classes. Say you have to grocery shop for the week. You have an hour between two lectures. That could be a great time to knock grocery shopping off of your to-do list. When you start using breaks effectively to get things done, you will notice that it feels like you’ve made more time to do what you want to do, rather than what you have to do.

Leverage Technology

When it comes to time management, technology is your friend! There’s an array of time management apps you can download to help you get things done. Here’s a look at some of the best time management apps to choose from. Additionally, even simple and existing tools like timers and calendars on your handheld device can be used for time management, as already discussed.

Ask for Help

In terms of time management, asking for help often happens in the form of delegation. For example, if you’re living with roommates, then consider devising a cleaning schedule where everyone takes turns. By doing so, you can free up some of your time to focus on your schoolwork (or social activities).

Reward Yourself

No matter how many strides you make on your journey of time management, take some time (no pun intended) to reward yourself. Your rewards should coincide with the time management goals that you’ve set. So, once you reach your goals, you have something to look forward to (a.k.a. the reward).

Closing Thoughts

By following some or all of the aforementioned best time management tips for college students, you may discover that it feels like you have more time in a day. The idea of organizing time can feel liberating as you’ll be more productive. In turn, you will have more time to do the things you want to do because you’ve managed to get done the things you have to.
