         <description><![CDATA[<p><br></p><p>Born in Pisa in 1564, Galileo challenged centuries of Aristotelian physics by proving that objects fall at the same rate regardless of weight, a principle he demonstrated through experiments with inclined planes and famously (though possibly apocryphally) by dropping spheres from the Leaning Tower of Pisa. He revolutionized astronomy by improving the telescope and using it to observe the Moon’s craters, sunspots, the phases of Venus, and four moons orbiting Jupiter—now known as the Galilean moons. These observations provided empirical support for the heliocentric model proposed by Copernicus, which placed the Sun at the center of the solar system.</p><p>In his final years, Galileo suffered from progressive vision loss, eventually becoming blind. Despite this, he dictated his last major work, Two New Sciences, which summarized decades of research on motion and materials. His commitment to empirical observation and mathematical analysis laid the groundwork for Newtonian physics and the modern scientific method. Galileo’s legacy is not only scientific but symbolic—he stood for truth in the face of persecution, spending his last years under house arrest for defending heliocentrism against Church doctrine.</p><p>Galileo’s blindness did not silence his intellect.
