Copernicus later went to the University of Padua and the University of Ferrara where he got a doctorate in canon law. After he finished his academics, copernicus went back to poland where he became a church administrator and doctor.

He also believed that all of the planets encircle the sun and that the universe was much larger than they thought. Copernicus theorized that earth’s distance to the sun was just a small fraction of the size of the universe and that the apparent retrograde motion of the planets was created by the earth’s motion. Copernicus wrote many books but what he is most famous for is the de revolutionibus orbium coelestium which translates to "On the Revolutions of the Heavenly spheres". A  mathematician named Georg Joachim Rheticus convinced Copernicus to publish the book. It is about his theory of the heliocentric solar system.
