Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens - Let Them Eat Brioche

1. As a young man living in the Victorian era of England, Charles Dickens collected a variety of sorrowful experiences, many of which have been incorporated into his novels. The most prominent aspect of his life that we have found is the period in which he labored in industrial factory work as a child. Just at the meager age of twelve, he was forced to leave school and work 10 or so hours a day, labeling shoe-shine pots for essentially minimum wage. We recall that he was forced under these conditions due to his father's imprisonment because of debt. Dickens, having been the second oldest child and a son, was sent to provide for the family, sacrificing his so-loved education. Such an instance is said to have never left Dickens, also made very clear that he abhorred his transition into poverty with all his being.

2. When he began his work at the factory, another boy named Bob Fagin had shown Dickens how to handle the process of "attaching sticker labels to shoe-shine pots".

3. He was celebrated because he successfully wrote about sensitive topics and taboo topics that typically weren't written about by others in that time (the 1800s/19th century) and place (Victorian England).
