Their initial major concern was passage of a national Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution which was eventually shot down . Despite the let down they continued to now be popular & well known in all 50 states, and are supported by men as well as women ,advocating for things such as pregnancy leave , abortion rights, pension rights, while also supporting the LGBTQ community & rights.

The interest group that I chose is The Center for Community Change. Community Change is a national organization that builds the power of low-income people, especially people of color, to fight for a society where everyone can thrive. The interest group generally works in low-income areas, especially within communities of color, and attempt to create resident-based groups to work on local issues of concern. I chose this interest group because I agree with their intentions on trying to create a better environment for poor communities. That is something that I am genuinely passionate about for the simple fact that I would do whatever I could do to allow everyone to live a better life if I got the chance to.

The goal is to educate the bar and public about homelessness and poverty. The most recent policy in place is Res. 604 to prevent youth homelessness.
