For this project, I wanted to touch on something that hits home for me, drugs. Growing up in a small town with lack of activities to do, drugs were the only supplement of happiness, to really feel something ''out of this world''. Majority of the people i hung around with were a lot more involved, using every weekend in their flats, to being offered. It wasn't a huge culture shock for me, Until i met Anna. 

Anna is 19, from Belfast and has hugely inspired me within this project, to capture her within the moment of consumption. We would sit in the smoking area and talk about our experiences for hours, however it made me realise how deep the rabbit hole of drugs are and no matter how euphoric you feel in the moment, the outcome leads to future problems. One of the most controversial photographers in photojournalism. Her vision during the Ballad of Sexual Dependency was a self diary of herself, the ones she loved closely, that struggled with drugs. The way she photographed during that project touched me, the fact I could relate to being surrounded by people with self issues and addiction, hugely inspired me to capture others during a weekend of chaos. 

The reason i love Nan, is because her work is so raw, not staged. It almost feels like you're there in the moment, reeling you in so much more as a viewer of the photograph. Her shots are often beautifully blurred.
