While the society in Gattaca strives for genetic perfection, it reveals the flaws and limitations of such a system, by highlighting that a perfect society is nothing but an illusion.

I agree to this prompt to a certain extent because the perfect society can be an illusion to some people. Often, in the media life is portrayed to be perfect and that everything is under control just like in the society of Gattaca but normally you see this through the perspective of rich people, people who have it better than others. They are able to get away with many things because they have more power and money, this can be an illusion because life is not actually like that. Although, to some people they can see through this, they seek to know the truth even though it may not be as accessible and try to raise awareness about it. In the news it covers more surface level issues so some people try to dig deeper so life may not be an illusion to them. It depends on your outlook in life and how willing you are to become ignorant to serious issues.

I agree to this prompt because throughout gattaca the discrimination in the society is based on genetic predisposition instead of color, ethnicity and etc, though people with perfect genes are said to be perfect, through the film its shown that it is all an illusion and having 'superior genetics' does not make you a better person. Due to the valids being superior they are able to live in big houses and live a good life with the jobs of their dreams while the invalid's are living in slumps and working as cleaners not being able to pursue a career all because of being born naturally and facing discrimination for it.

Niccol uses the city of Gattaca to demonstrate that the 'perfect society' is an illusion. It is shown through the living conditions the invalids have compared to valids. The invalids live in the 'slums' and the valids have mansions. This relates to our society today, people say our society is perfect yet there is still a large percentage of people who are homeless, and then we have the rich people who do not think twice about how our society really is.

prompt two is correct because no matter how hard you try to be perfect there will always be an issue, Irene was considered genetically perfect but still ended up having heart problems. i believe that genetics do not play a role in being perfect because there are other things that can impact a person's ability like Gerome's legs not working after getting hit by a car even though he was born perfect. in my opinion, your genetics should not stop you from doing things.

If your an 'valid' then that means you have perfect genetics because you are born the scientific way, but if you are born the normal way we know then that means you are an 'in-valid'. In Gattaca we are shown that a perfect society is nothing else than an illusion, we are shown this in the movie when even Irene who has perfect genetics still ended up having heart problems. He explains through various characters how society expects so much from them and how it classifies them according to their genes and perfections. Andrew Nicol explains perfect as an 'illusion' in the world of Gattaca. This is very much also seen in our society right now as they also classify one due to looks and small imperfections. The whole idea of one being perfect is something that no one can achieve but due to society targeting our imperfection, one may think they have to be, but being perfect is an illusion and with the help of Gattaca and Andrew Nicol, this is explained.

Gerome a man built to supposed ‘perfection’ and made to live a lush life gets results of imperfection causing a malfunction within him and an attempt to take his own life. He ends up in a wheel chair, the man built perfect in a perfect society ends up with a disability, therefore proving that perfect genes do not lead to perfect society and Gattacas attempt to create a ‘perfect society’ is just an illusion.

The world shown in the film "Gattaca" persuasively proves that the concept of a perfect society is an illusion. In this dystopian future, society is obsessed with genetic perfection, and people are classified according to their genetic composition and predicted skills. Vincent, the primary character, opposes this system by taking the identity of a genetically superior individual in order to achieve his goals. The film illustrates the shortcomings and limits of a society based on genetic determinism via Vincent's journey. While Gattaca's world looks to be perfect on the outside, it is riddled with injustice, unfairness, and denial of human freedom.
Despite the appearance of perfection, it is evident that such a society is fundamentally defective and incapable of establishing real harmony. As represented in "Gattaca," the search of perfection eventually leads to the restriction of human potential, a loss of personal independence, and the establishment of a rigid caste system based on hereditary supremacy. As a result, the film effectively supports the concept that a perfect society is a mirage, an impossible ideal that eventually leads to the dehumanisation and marginalisation of its citizens.

In the sci-fi dystopian world of Gattaca, civilians don't deal with discrimination to a race, or age, instead discrimination has gone as low as to your genetic make up and how 'perfect you are'. The idea of perfectionism is an 'illusion' because nobody can be perfect and we all have our flaws. Jerome being a 'perfect genetically modified human' was still not perfect despite what the genetic system had created him to be, which is what Niccol tries to portray with the character Jerome. Jerome, despite his outstanding genetic makeup had still come second place in a swimming contest and because of this suffocating pressure to be perfect because of your genes, he tries to commit suicide but fails. The high expectations of the dystopian world, Gattaca portray how 'perfectionism' is an illusion and nobody is perfect.

The discrimination faced through their genetic determining where they will end up in life and how long they will live. Just like in today's society, everyone is classified through the latest trend and the high brands that are over price. If you do not have a specific brand or amount of money, you do not fit into society because you're not qualified for a specific job. Just like in Gattaca if you do not have the 'perfect genes' then you can not do more than become a cleaner. Just like today if you do not finish school then you will be jobless, or be in a low position in jobs. In Gattaca you can not change what happens to you as there is no way of going back, your genetics determine your fate.

Vincent was a 'gods child' which caused him to face discrimination and would not be allowed to work in Gattaca due to his heart condition. However, Vincent works hard and impersonates Jermone Marrow and enters Gattaca as a valid and ends up going to space, he wasnt seen as compliant to society and was judged, but he followed his will. Unlike Vincent, Jermone was clouded by the judgment of others which lead to him attempting society. This shows like how in our society, people comply to society and what they want instead of what their dreams are

Niccol portrays how no one is perfect and he illustrates that through his film, Gattaca.

I personally agree with this prompt because we are shown in Gattaca that society is nothing but an illusion even with 'perfect genetics'. In Gattaca humanity only cares about your genes 🧬 and your whole life is based on your genes, not about how much work and effort you put into something. This relates to in todays time how sometimes us students could be putting in a lot of effort to do well in the exam/quiz but our teacher would only look at our exam result just like in Gattaca how they only look at the genes of a person.

Niccol shows how those in gattaca society choose compliance over will. All of the Gattaca workers are in suits all lined up. However their facial expressions show that non of them are happy. This shows how they comply to society and how the society is an illusion

In Gattaca it displays that perfection is nothing but an illusion. This is seen when Vincent, who is an in-valid beats his brother Anton who is a valid and has perfect genetic makeup. When they were younger Vincent would always lose against his brother Anton but he never gave up and finally won against him. Vincent broke the science barrier that divided society. Vincent proved society wrong implying that 'perfection' is an illusion and it doesnt exist.

Gattaca portrays the perfectionism is an illusion and that nobody is perfect. In Vincent and Anton's favourite game 'Chicken', Vincent always loses, then one day when he was older he beat his brother in the game and that made him realise that anything can be possible which motivated him to get into Gattaca and pursue his dream. Niccol uses Vincent to show us viewers that perfectionism is an illusion.
