         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first source of power and responsibility for state education and schooling. Boards have been absorbed into bigger school boards on a larger scale. Although they were the original entity responsible for state education they have since lost power to growing state and federal regulations and oversight, as well as teachers unions and private interests groups. </div>]]></description>

Unions have the huge ability to influence education as they can turn  elections if the public isn't strongly voting. Testing agencies and even the media play a role in influencing policy making and policy implementation. These groups are able to have such influence either by helping persuade public opinion as well as provide funding to policy makers, and even schools. </div>]]></description>

Similar responsibilities as the superintendents, they are responsible for oversight of schools and educational policies and enforcing those policies onto the school. Work very closely with the State Superintendent and can also even appoint them. </div>]]></description>
