He became a Wing Commander and went on to work at G.C.H.Q Cheltenham where he continued working until he retired. Awarded an MBE for his service. Died aged 76. &nbsp;My Great Uncle was a true hero.</div>]]></description>

The 3rd time he received a severe shrapnel wound to his head, losing an eye and further injuries to his head.  Died in 1931 aged 45.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Served in WW2 starting in the Home Guard as under age, transferring to Army for training and preparation for the D-Day offensive.  Landed on Sword Beach on D-day and fought through in Operation Market Garden. He was a Bren carrier driver, Mechanic and heavy machine gunner.</div><div>Awarded by the French the <strong><em>Ordre National De La Legion D'honneur  </em></strong>for his <strong><em> </em></strong>part in the operation.  Sadly passed away earlier this year aged 94.</div>]]></description>
