They refused to teach their children their first language to prevent this from happening to them too. A lot of lost culture.
My paternal grandmother has lineage back to Louis Hebert (one of the first farmers in Quebec)... deep colonizer roots there! Privilege- Parents took education very seriously and always kept education as a priority which is why I may have to help me succeed better. More Opportunities to be independent in Canada (vs my home country) which allows me to travel safely and freely (more or less).
