The working environment and the management of Aldi raises a conflict. Aldi's UK Official website claimed that they were considerate employers with evidences of being ranked sixth in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employer 2013, being chose as the "Employer of Choice for General Management", and having a low turnover rate. Meanwhile, Aldi is widely criticised as "employees have to fight for adequate working conditions". The Labour Union claimed that Aldi was under-staffed, therefore the existing staff had to work very fast, or over-time to fulfil the requirements from the management. However, no corresponding benefits and "freedom" are given to the employees as there are strict regulations on employees' personal relationship and grooming. To verify the comments from both side, the rating from job search engine Indeed.com could be take into consideration. The overall rating is fair, with benefits and compensation of the company rate the highest.

The overall employee satisfaction is fair in Aldi. Restrictive policies, dissatisfying working environment and the heavy workload is compensated by great benefit and generous wages paid. As shown from ALDI's mediocre employee ratings in Indeed.com bar scoring a 4/5 in compensation and benefits while other aspects like job work/ Life balance and job culture only score 3/5. Despite existing resentment from labour unions, ALDI was ranked 6th in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers 2013, indicating that compensating overtime work with monetary benefits seems to be working.

The manager said nobody is shorted, so workers in Aldi always be responsible for everything, for instance, cashing out, re-stock and work beyond their shift. To compensate it, Aldi paid a higher salary compared to the industry. Also, some front line employees are not satisfied with some restrictions of being a worker at Aldi, eg appearance, vow of silence, odd working hours, limitation to unions. There are also some employees believe that they are being treated differently with other managerial level employees, so they face an unfair working environment. For reference, Aldi was rated by the employees in average of 3.2 out of 5, mainly representing unsatisfactory workload, job culture, and job security.

Overall, the employees of Aldi are levied enormous burden, mainly due to the under-staff arrangement and onerous duties. Also, the rigid restrictions, which includes personal matters, imposed on them dampen their satisfactions to some extent. However, the company declares that it offers a higher-than-average salary to its staff, which is sufficient to compensate for the excessive working pressure. For this point, the labor unions hold an opposite stance and criticize the company.

Being different from what Aldi showed through its external reputation of the management, the lower -level employee satisfaction in Adli is lower. The manager said nobody is shorted, so workers in Aldi always be responsible for everything from cashing out, re-stock and work beyond their shift. To compensate it, Aldi paid a higher salary compared to the industry. In addition, there are some restrictions for employees, such as on their appearance, vow of silence, and limitation to unions. In this sense, Aldi was rated by its employees in average of 3.2 out of 5, mainly representing unsatisfactory workload, job culture, and job security, but with the higher compensation and rewards. Hence, the overall employee satisfaction in Adli is demonstrated to be lower.
