Eugene also houses a community college, Lane Community college. Eugene is not only a wonderful and beautiful city for families and adults to live in and enjoy, but also embodies the idea of a college town. The University of Oregon provides students with many different choices of programs and majors for undergraduates, but also has several graduate school programs for those who wish to further their education and degree.

The goal of CAHOOTS is to aid assistance in mental health crisis, such as mental illness, depression, substance abuse, and poverty. Calls can be made to the non-emergency line where will be sent to aid and assist those in crisis. 

CAHOOTS is program that was formed to help those in crisis instead of resulting to violence. "Eugene, Oregon developed an innovative community-based public safety system to provide mental health first response for crises involving mental illness, homelessness, and addiction," (Whitebirdclinic.org). They provide a team consisting of a medic and trained crisis worker to assist at the scene. They do this by providing direct service to the community and educating them on the issues of the public.

White Bird Clinic has many different primary care services for the public including medical, dental, drug and alcohol treatment, counseling and crisis intervention, and a mobile crisis intervention program (CAHOOTS). 

They make serving the marginalized people of Eugene their priority, and are funded by the HRSA Center Program.

People who are experiencing homelessness are unable to afford any housing, and there is not much that the city does to help provide resources for them. Residents of the city struggle with finding affordable housing, especially with increasing rent.
